English & CL Football [6th - 10th Mar 2010] **spoilers**

I guarantee you won't be calling Bendtner 'dire' in a year. Most Arsenal fans at least know that he's got a very bright future. He's changed the way Arsenal have played recently and improved the team as a whole. His link-up play and movement is excellent for a 20 year old and he's by far the best header of the ball of any attacker in the team.

His outstanding header against Stoke was worth 100x what his misses against Burnley was.

He definitely won't be sold and I implore you to show me a 20 year old striker who isn't inconsistent. If you've watched any Spanish football at all recently you might have seen a player called Aguero who plays for Athleti Madrid, incredible talent and a VERY exciting striker, but he is ridiculously wasteful in front of goal (he misses chances like Bender did at the weekend EVERY week), yet there's talk of a £50m bid for him. RvP has had games like Bender did, very recently. Rooney has been guilty of being very wasteful too.

I'm shocked that people don't understand development in footballers and realise that almost every footballer on this entire planet is inconsistent until 24/25.

Reading 2-0 Villa

Can't see Villa getting much with Heskey and Carew on the pitch. They both have a negative amount of pace to get in behind a stubborn Reading defence.

thevillian2010 will not be a happy bunny :D

That's two weeks running the opposite of what you said happened. :D :D

Say Liverpool will win tonight please. :p

I wonder what the odds were of Villa winning during half time 2-0 down. I said to my brothers that Villa would win 4-2 and they did! Should have put a bet down on that scoreline.

Liverpool 11:
-----------Reina
-Masch-Carra-Kyriakos-Insua
Maxi--Lucas-Gerrard-Benayoun
-------Kuyt-Torres

Johnson and Agger only fit enough for the bench.

to compare bendner to aguero is hilarious

I think it represented my point to a tee. He's probably the most exciting young striker in the game yet he's still incredibly inconsistent when in front of goal. If the best are inconsistent then most will be

Seriously!?

Why has Huth's name being changed to Hoot? :/

No idea, I spotted that a couple weeks ago, cup game on Itv, they have a habit of hiring commentators who can't pronounce a name to save their lives.

Liverpool have sucked and N'Zogbia has been absolutely fantastic so far, should be 1-0 from a tap in from his cross.

AS for Bendtner, here's why he's great, he missed chances, but a bad striker would just give away the ball all over the pitch. ANywhere he wasn't shooting he was not giving the ball away, he was winning the ball against a big back line quite easily , controlling it and giving the ball out very well. Other than inside the 6 yard box, he didn't waste the ball at all.

Wenger made a good point, you miss the first shot, everyone does miss one or two, you miss the second though and you start questioning what you did wrong, so for the 3rd chance you're thinking, shoot slightly earlier, or later, or higher, or lower, power or control. You're not playing naturally, and thats the same in any sport. Say you're bowling, you can get a strike easily, but you miss 3 in a row and you start to adjust your normal swing because you think somethings wrong and it just goes from bad to worse.

As I said though a bad striker would have done EVERYTHING badly, and the worst thing anyone can do is constantly give it to the other side, no one was angry at him as he wasn't doing that. He created plenty of chances for others who didn't take them aswell.

AS for goal scoring, last year his goals to minutes ratio was truly fantastic for a barely starts no form striker, it was not far off the best in the league. Goals to minutes on the pitch he was pretty high up the table and in general strikers who start game after game only improve. Before that game he'd scored midweek in an international and scored a hugely important goal at Stoke, a world class header, that was absolutely crucial to get in that game in that situation.

Not surprised in the slightest. Wigan haven't scored for 5 games or something and have been dropping like flies yet we sit back and let them play. Horrific tactics from Benitez yet again, Kuyt the creative force behind Torres :o

This isn't the greatest pitch for Torres to find his feet on. Liverpool will really have to pull something out of the bag to rescue this game.

And now were 1-0 down no surprise were giving the ball away at every chance aswell =/

That was an awful goal to concede, throw in that Kuyt was it should have just turned and blasted, several very easy passes to others who could clear it and he underhits a pass to almost no one, great cross though and good run in by Rodders. Seeing that cross again actually, it was brilliant.
