English & European Football [17th - 22nd Apr 2010] **spoilers**

Certainly opens it all up again. Arsenal need to get three pts on Sunday to make it closer but it could all end on the last day with three teams still in it. Obviously with Arsenal as the real outsider of the three. ;)

How exciting would it of been if Arsenal coould of beat Spurs? :(

I definitely think it's Man U's now. Chelsea won't beat Pool, they'll bottle under the pressure.

And as usual Spurs will get turned over by Man U at OT after their recent decent results.

Awful day. :( Just awful. We didn't play well at all today. Drogba was very quiet and after a slow start we never got going. The only positive was that our goal difference wasn't dented much when it easily could have been 4 or 5 nil - thanks pav. ;)

Anyway, it's still in our own hands and hopefully spurs will beat man u next weekend to even it all out.

Wasn't Bale far better in the first half, against one of the worst right backs in the league, he didn't get half as much play against Ivanovic.

Was Ivanovic unfit, back from injury or something? Yes the portuguese twit didn't screw up in the maulings of some bad teams recently, but he's still utter pants.

I don't get this panicky crap some managers do, Drogba/Anelka has worked ALL season, but one not great performance and its time to drop Anelka, not put Ivanovic back in when he's fit over a truly awful right back, play the completely useless since his return Joe Cole for no apparent reason.

Its like O'neill last year, fantastic first half of the season, then randomly buy a truly awful striker drop your best partnership and screw up the second half of the season?

Why do managers make changes to a proven and working team based on a single not great game, and throw it all away in the process.

City were not terrible, but not great, Johnson was his usual selfish tit, always shooting when theres far better options on. Onoura just isn't good at right back, Barry was pointless, Vieira was terrible when he came on and Ireland didn't have a chance to get into the game. However, it was funny, I thought Utd and City were both massively better in the first game and City were closer to winning the first game, or drawing, than this game.

Way too many teams in the top 4 playing other teams in the top 6 to really guess which way it might go. Still think Chelsea for the title and City for 4th.

Terry was hilarious, does he think usual fouls don't apply to him? (Although going by another ref just giving Chelsea decisions I wouldn't be surprised) That first one where he hacked Defoe, then hauled him back with both arms was ten times worse than what Rafael got a second yellow for! Yet when Mr Terry does it? Not even a freekick!!! Unbelievable.

Rafael's second yellow against Munich was joke anyway, sure he pulled him back in the first instance but then Ribery did much worse in return, essentially trying to elbow him into the chest and then flagrantly shoving him to wheel around to the referee with the infamous card gesture they like so much on the continent.

Finally, at last Rochdale are promoted, its taken us long enough. Was at the ground on Tuesday when we blew it with over 5000 fans full of expectation so its nice that we made it even if I missed it due to work.

That is irrelevant to Rafael's foul.

Sorry but this is a football thread. :p

He only has himself to blame for the sending off. Very immature.

Not that Utd would have beat Barca in the final anyway :p

Congrats to Rochdale on their promotion. Great to see NW clubs doing well.

To be fair rafael should've been booked (or sent off like beckham was against the argies in the world cup 98) earlier for kicking out at a munich player, although he was fouled in the first instance.

'17 min: Rooney cynically swipes De Jong across the back of the ankles as the City man looks to break upfield. Somehow he escapes a booking. While not in the Paul Scholes league, he does get away with a lot in the Premier League, Rooney. This is just storing up trouble for England in the World Cup, isn't it.'

Incident conveniently edited out of MOTD highlights but I was amazed at the time he only got a talking to. Should've been off. There was no element of a tackle involved, Rooney simply gave De Jong a kick because he'd lost the ball.
Dont pretend Terry gets better treatment than your own England international players, it's already been admitted that refs are instructed to go easy on England players so as not to damage their confidence ;).

Yep that should have been a booking as well, but then Tevez and Barry both should have got booked for diving. They also didn't show Barry's (probably accidental) elbow/arm in the face just after the Bridge handball incident.
