English Football [1st - 5th May 2010] **spoilers**

So what are the odds going to be on Fulham beating Arsenal and Spurs beating Burnely in the last game so Spurs get 3rd hahahaaha (that would be extremely funny after all the Arsenal supporters being so snotty to Spurs over the years :D)

PS Yeah I know Fulham have a Europa league Final to look forward to very soon and have little to fight for EPL wise :(

Full credit to Spurs. I don't think anybody gave them a chance a few weeks back with the run-in they had.
.

Not many gave Utd a chance against Arsenal or Chelsea about 6 games back (me included), - I guess one could still say we dont stand a chance, but to sell the best player in the world and still only lose the EPL by two points effectively is still a pretty decent result .... even in a relatively average season

(on merit injuries havent been that different between the teams)

If we draw and Tottenham win then chances are we will come 3rd unless they win by 7 or 8 goals and we concede a couple. If they lose they can't get above us, if we lose and they win then I'll probably just jump off a bridge.

I can't see King going to the World Cup, As much as I'd like to see him go.

He's crippled, can only play once every other game and is such a high injury risk.

It's a shame, as imo he's one of the best English center backs. If he was able to play week in week out and stay fit, I'd take him ahead of Terry.

Yay, nothing major I know but, just won a sneaky tenner :D

Nicely done by Tottenham, thought they'd be the team to break the chain this season. Providing they come 4th I'm not convinced they'll get through the qualifier easily, if at all. We'll see!

King is probably The Best centre half England have - its just a pity he is such a high injury risk (and even worse, that like Rio thats unlikely to change)

edit - Im really chuffed for Spurs I think they have deserved it easily on merit - even after the last several seasons (even if they flirted with relegation during that spell)

I dont agree with 'Arry that City will win the EPL within three years despite the result, but still a very good chance of making top four a couple of times in the next three years.

Spurs have a great team - but now with the CL incentive to attract even better players, they need to make the most of it this summer, otherwise they could be the ones to suffer more than Arsenal (even maybe Liverpool, depending on buyers could get back "their " place) and possibly even Utd given their horrendous debts / not so certain transfer purse - even if new shirt sponsor should ease that concern.

No, I said that Spurs arguably had fewer weaknesses. One of my key points was that Liverpool didn't have enough depth up front, which I think has been vindicated. ;)

Do we not have to go through the qualifying rounds? Is it just fourth rather than fourth and third?

Unless they have changed the rules....4th is qualifying for group stages of the CL...remember at the start when we played Celtic and the whole fuss about Edu diving??;).

Im pretty sure 3rd is automatic qualification for group stages.

if we lose and they win then I'll probably just jump off a bridge.

Let me know which bridge and ill be there to join you:p:D

Im actually pretty worried now that Arsenal after a pretty good season have left it at such a state that we could very well lose 3rd place to the Spuds by the end of the season.

We should be close to 80 pts if we hadnt lost against Wigan and Blackburn...6 pts dropped from those 2.

Well done Spurs, hopefully you'll just be keeping our place warm ;)

though unless we get decent new owners and soon I cant see us getting a top 4 spot back anytime soon :(

Vieira, in a game they desparately needed some creativity in midfield, he has been utter turd since they got him, unless its against Burnley. LIkewise SWP, who has been awful, who is completely and utterly lazy, who chases nothing and puts in no defensive effort at all.
Errr...

Vieira is nothing but creativity and passing, but he doesn't move at all in the middle of the park, and Wright-Phillips is completely the opposite, all running but ultimately has no spacial awareness and often puts in a scuffed cross if he's that lucky to get by the defender.

I think you got it the wrong way around there...

Vieira USED to be out midfield enforcer but also have a great eye for a defence splitting pass, unfortunately that was like a decade ago, he's been woeful for 5 years, he's been beyond crap for the last two. His passing left him years ago, infact I'd guess he still has the skill but just can't be bothered. For his last 18 months at Arsenal he stopped bothering to go forward, he stopped driving games and just stood in midfield waiting for the ball and flopping over winning freekicks. He is no more than a defensive midfielder now, and in that I mean someone who doesn't get forward and fouls a bit.

As for SWP, if you watched him at all this year, its the lazyness that he won't run forward for an attack unless he thinks he'll get the ball, I think it was against Utd, or, can't remember who but even though he'd been on for 10 minutes near the end he didn't bother running all the way back to help defend and then City got the ball and he WALKED upfield, someone was clearly waiting to pass it long crossfield to him and he finally started jogging, pass went, he didn't bother running for it, other team got it, he didn't bother running back either and they conceded a last minute goal, was probably the Utd game.

He's incredibly lazy, when he thinks theres like a 80% chance he'll get the ball, he'll run, otherwise he can't be bothered, and he just stops playing from 80 minutes in, if he started or came on in the 79th minute, he just acts like the game is over.

Tonight he ran forward now and then but not all that much, he didn't close ANYONE down at full speed and most of the time not at all, for the goal he didn't even try to track back and left Zabeleta on his own against two inform left side players, he didn't have a chance, that basically led directly to the goal as holding them up meant it wouldn't have dropped on the right for them.

He's fast and his only "skill" is running, with nothing else to his game except a few deflected goals and awful final ball choice, but its embarassing how unwilling he is to run when required. Same as Theo, supposedly all the pace in the world but completely unwilling runner defensively.

King just played 2 games in 4 days, I expect him at the World Cup.

Playing two games in four days isnt quite like playing in a major competition like the world cup. The games come thick and fast towards the end if we are still in it. Ideally you would want the same starting eleven as much as possible in the competition and that wouldnt be possible with King.
