English League Cup round 4 [26-27 October] **Spoilers!**

I just saw Ronaldo has scored 43 goals now in 46 games for Madrid.

**** me, worth every penny.

Wouldn't say worth it! Higuain has got 35 in 50 in the same period and he cost less than £10m and he doesn't take all the free kicks and penalties.

It didn't take me long to search eight posts, I'll be honest.

Just getting tiresome reading posters telling us how they always knew such-and-such would be crap/good/the next messi/an astronaut, when the truth is its actually pretty bloody impossible to say how someone will turn out in the future.

hm but i have been pretty vocal about people like, Carrick (5 out of 10 last night in what was really a reserve level match), Evans, park, oshea, etc as well as praising hernandez and not linking to his highlights here;

i was worried that fergie wouldnt give him enough of a chance but thankfully with rooneys implosion he is getting a good crack at it.

Nickg

his trademark seems to be the 100mph sprint into the box and then finish before anyone realises what is what

:) infact he ran that quickly, he caused a glitch on every online video i have seen that makes him look like he is Neo in the matrix... then suddenly he has the ball and its in the net.

I guess they should have played Bobchenko. :p

Looking forward to this evening's game against Newcastle, I've no idea if they are playing a strong team or not but I think we should rest Sagna, Song, Arshavin, Chamakh and Nasri, keep them on the bench in case we need a goal but I'd start with Rosicky, Bendtner, Theo and maybe someone like Landsbury instead of Song. Should be a good game. :)

I imagine Newcastle will be putting out a weakened side. Even with a full strength side they're unlikely to win (though I thought the same about the Chelsea match), and with the derby coming up at the weekend they're going to want to rest their best players for that.

As much as I'd like Newcastle to win, I really can't see it happening.

Last season Higuain spent a spell playing on the wing too, after Ronaldo complained he wasnt the focal point of the team.

Indeed, I was also going to say he doesn't take a shot every time he gets the ball regardless of where he is, thought that was too far though ;)

The simple fact is Ronaldo is a winger, played the vast majority of the year on the wing, and outscored a striker, thats entirely no mean feat. He was also 80% of the teams driving force from midfield to attack so even when he doesn't get the assist half the attacks have him to thank. Higuain is good, but not as good as Ronaldo, though it would be interesting to know who scored against who.

Ronaldo was getting used to a new club and new league, Higuain wasn't. Also Ronaldo definately doesn't take all the freekicks and penalties. He handed off several to Kaka at the very least, and Diarra, Alonso, Kaka, Marcelo and Ramos all take freekicks, Ronaldo takes more than most though, and he'll score more than anyone else taking freekicks so not sure how thats bad, its part of his game.

If he'd taken all the penalties he'd have another 4-5 goals on top of what he has.

27 goals for a striker is very good, but its not flat out fantastic, 26 goals in the league for a winger, is pretty much astonishing.

As seemingly shown, with a decent winger instead of Kaka, and without playing with Benzema who is useless and after a year to get used to the league/players, his strike record is significantly improve so far, 8 games, 10 goals, 4 assists, Higuain is on half the goals so far.

Yes that includes a ridiculous 4 goals in one game, but Ronaldo is someone you would bet on doing similar all season.

Arsenal beating Newcastle 6-0 tonight. Newcastle will put out a weak team no doubt. They have better things to worry about, like survival.

Arsenal will batter them. It's pretty clear that Mr Wenger want's to win this trophy to shut up the moaners / complainers.

No doubt if we beat Newcastle tonight, we will get Man United next.

Even if Arsenal won the Carling Cup the so called moaners/complainers would still be there moaning/complaining about what Arsenal hasn't won. Inevitable.

While they were getting the false teeth out and the Werther's Originals in, [Wenger] has been busily rabble-rousing, shouting about people who dare criticise his side for not winning a trophy in five years. "You just have to look around Europe to see just how difficult it is to be consistently at the top, as we have been," he thundered, apparently making the schoolboy error of mistaking "the top" with a completely different place slightly below it.
