English League Football ** spoilers ** [11th - 15th September 2010]

Poulsen played some good stuff in the last 10-15minutes, but easy to do when there's no attacking pressure on you. As you say, team still needs to gel a bit.

Yup, at times there were some very good little bits of play, between Konchesky/Gerrard on the left, and I think it was either Konchesky/Torres, or someone else and Torres which nearly pulled off.

Johnson needs to work on his crossing, especially from deep he should always beat the first man.

Be interesting to see what happens with Liverpool once they gel and get used to the new system.

In other news, Zamora's operation was successful, he's fractured his fibula, and there was ligament damage which was sorted out. Not sure how long he'll be out for, it's still probably 4-6 months though :(

That's true, it's not all doom and gloom yet. There are some good players there (even aside from Gerrard and Torres). It will be interesting to see where we are at Christmas though.

The Johnson tackle on Torres is that the penalty decision you guys are talking about, where Johnson got all of the ball, clear as day? Very tough tackle, but spot on.

Of course, Brum had a nailed on penalty denied, that was actually a penalty not wishful thinking. Johnson tracking someone across the box he turned his shoulder, very clearly barged whoever it was and sent them flying, it was a clear as day foul in the box, off the ball but never the less a penalty.

As for playing the same way with much the same team, but worse, Caragher is MUCH worse than 2 years ago, Gerrard and Torres aren't half the players they were two years ago, Reina is far more prone to a slip(making mistakes for Spain recently aswell as pool), Lucas is still awful, Benny, one of the more consistant players has gone, Maxi is completely useless. You had Garcia who almost always gave Liverpool goals, and was a massive big game player for you, you ditched him and got Babel, Maxi and the likes.

The team for the past two years was running off form from the years before with better players to be honest, they are really just starting to play at the level they should be, thoroughly average across the board with a few star players who simply aren't performing.

As for Poulson, he seemed much better on and off the ball, than Lucas and I assume Lucas will be replaced with the new guy ahead and Gerrard back in midfield where people seem to forget, he had a consistant decade and one great season as a "withdrawn striker" a position in which he's rather sucked for the past year. Even for England when pushed forwards he was terrible and now people are praising him when he plays in a far more normal central midfield role.

I mean if you honestly look at Pools team, theres players from the top 6-7 sides I would take(exclude city and their "dream team" )over almost every position at Liverpool. Defensively, I wouldn't take a single player from Liverpool, Villa, even Arsenal, Chelsea, Utd, Spurs, they all have players I'd choose first, midfield, Gerrard's the only one worth talking about and in terms of form, again Arsenal, Chelsea, Utd, Spurs, Villa all have 3-4 players I'd take before a single Pool player.

Upfront, Torres on current form and lazyness, does nothing with the ball unless he's inside the box and can shoot straight away, I wouldn't take him, on form, Gerrard and Torres over a lot of other players in the top 6, but off form(which they have been for a over a year, or simply not fit often enough).

Did anyone see Zamora news, saying operation was a success but they found ligament damage while they were operating which they also fixed. But yesterday Hughes was saying at least 4 months, maybe a lot longer if liagments got damaged aswell, so potentially very bad news. :(

Nope. I don't think anyone did :p

Roy scores an own goal
"My expectations were not that high anyway. It would have been disappointing to lose but I'm not that disappointed to draw.''

Roy, this is not Fulham now! :(

-edit-
Dont get me wrong, Brum away is a tough tough fixture and tbh a draw is an acceptable result, but that is not what we wanna hear from the man incharge.

I'm not a fan of the defeatist attitude either but look at where promising the world got Rafa last season. It's a case of one extreme to the other.

Hodgson should just kept his mouth shut and get on with it because it can't be doing the players confidence any favours knowing their manager doesn't expect much from them.

Roy seems to think he has a totally gimp squad, which isn't the case at all.

Liverpool could come 5th/6th with ease and he sounds like he's happy to avoid relegation...

As usual I (and most other humans no doubt :) ) disagree with Drunkenmaster.

IMO, virtually every team, including the "big" ones, in the premier league would take Reina. He's made 2 or 3 slip ups in the last 12 months, but then again so does every single keeper in the world. So does every player in the world in fact, its just that when a keeper does it , the effects are much more noticeable.

Even with those 2 or 3 slip ups, the pro's of Reina FAR FAR outweigh the few slips he has made.

I would wager that every manager in the league would jump at the chance to sign Reina.

So you wouldnt take any city players over Liverpools? Tevez over Babel? Johnson over Maxi? De Jong over Poulsen? Y Toure over Lucas? if not then you have a serious problem which i think you already do reading through the rest of your post.
