English League Football ** spoilers ** [12th - 14th November 2010]

It was a typical derby really, very hot tempered. Think Liverpool fans will be amused that a lot of Inter fans are 'puzzled' as to why they're side is losing/drawing a lot.

Not really. They've got an aging team and have been hit by injuries to key players. We've just got a **** manager.

Edit: Not seen anything about Inters fans calling for Benitez to be sacked but there is plenty about their owner coming under flack for not buying in the summer.

This is not acceptable. Sorry but there is too many tactical mistakes for me to accept giving him more time. I can accept if the team struggles because he picks the right players and tactics but they just aren't up to it but if we lose because of tactical ineptitude . I can't ***** take that crap.

This ugly fat **** has single handedly ruined the best defense in the world with his goddamn high defense line. ******* idiot...really, what kind of "tactician" uses a 4-3-1-2 without fullbacks? Why the **** did he start Matrix...who hasn't played a single ****** game prior this one? We didn't have a single shot on goal. We have been **** in, what? 6-7 games in a row now? He hasn't done a single good thing this season. Oh he beat an injury pleaded Werder at home? That's fantastic. 4-0 against Bari? Congratulations, you beat a **** team. We embarrassed ourself against Tottenham, not once, but ****** twice. We lost against Atletico because of his stupid ass tactics, we lost against ******* Roma, who was in **** form before the game...we drew against Juve...hell, we haven't looked good in single game except Werder and Bari, 2 teams we should always win against. We have the second most draws in the league...we are 6 ****** points after Milan in the table. And we weren't even close to scoring in those games, except a penalty miss by Diego and like 1, or 2 scoring chances against Juve and Roma.

And, no...don't ******* blame the management again, because, yes they did **** up...but this **** has ******* destroyed this team. Even with this "***** ass squad" they left him with, he should still do better than this. And don't even try to blame the ****** injuries...we we're **** even before all hell broke loose. No one fights for this team anymore. And even if the management ***** up during the mercato, he could've asked for better players, right? ******* Kuyt?

I'm done with him. I'm tired of his defensive strategy against big teams. I'm tired of his **** subs and weird ass lineups. I'm tired of his goddamn boring personality. There was a Liverpool fan who said something about how Rafa spoke to Cisse(?) after they won CL...apparently he wasn't even happy with the win, he just told the dude how he should play or something...why would anyone want to have a coach like that in their team?

Just **** off. Why didn't we just sign Capello?

There you go.

I'm sure I've heard similar stuff in here about other managers, it's weird how forgiving we can choose to be about being left with a poor squad (cl and league winning but still poor in some eyes) and injuries when we want to be isn't it?

Also weird how quotes from 2 fans can be classed as 'a lot of Inter fans' ;)

Did you see what Inter did last year, did you see what Bale did, as in, walk past a defender clearly told to play high, step up, and get forward a lot? They have every right to be aggrieved. Mourinho took a clearly title winning side, in a league with zero opposition, bought quite a few top players, and turned them into CL winners while continuing to dominate the league. They are playing like a mid table side within weeks of Benitez being in charge.

How would Chelsea fans, the vast majority, act if anyone took over and they were immediately struggling in the league, outside the top 3, getting spanked in a truly embarassing way by Spurs. I think they've lost to Roma and Milan now, Juve too? Lost to both the strongest title contenders from last year.

Inter have won just 5 of 12 games in the league so far, thats pretty god damned pathetic.

I think its fair to say, most fans are very dissappointed with Inter so far.

Its not quite accurate, footie365 says in the same period last year they'd won 8 out of 10 games, 80% winning ratio, vs 41% so far for Benitez............. ouch. They'd conceded 2 more goals, but scored 11 more(24 vs 13 this year). Benitez sucks balls, he's made them worse defensively, ok they've conceded marginally less in the league so far, dropped WAY more points already, dropped way more goals in the CL, and dropped their scoring rate by almost half.

Oh you know how it is, I thought it might be a bit much effort to edit out every sweary in every post directed at him ;) Just shows how football fans can act towards a new manager though doesn't it?

Stopped reading here because it's obvious you've never seen Maicon play previous to this season.

Edit: Actually, have you ever seen any Brazilian fullbacks play?

Whats your point exactly?

Are you trying to say a tactically aware manager can't tell Maicon for ONE GAME to stay back, or play a DIFFERENT PLAYER, or tell the winger to double up on Bale.

Maicon sucks balls defensively, like Alves, Ramos and several other "world class" right backs, who are deemed so mostly for their scoring records than their defensive ability. Ashley Coles scoring record for instance, is terrible, utterly terrible, but he's world class, for both his defensive and offensive play.

But then again, obviously, you infered something I didn't say, that somehow that isn't Maicons game. Its all well and good playing that way against a team without crazy pace.

Mourinho would never in a million years knowing exactly how Bale plays(its not a secret, its not unpredictable) would have contained it by means of probably doing what almost every armchair fan in the world worked out, keep Maicon back, or play a more defensive player, double up on him, they managed it against Messi, and Iniesta, in the same game.

EDIT:- Have you seen City play, a team that was somewhat freescoring under Hughes, with many of the same players, become goal shy under a different manager, or most importantly, a different tactical idea for most of the same players? How one player prefers to play isn't the way they have to play, ever. For the record, Carlos could tackle, and defend, as can a lot of Brazillian fullbacks, the current batch are basically wingers, Alves plays more as a winger for both club and country now for that very reason. That doesn't mean Alves has never doubled up and stayed back under managers orders.

Who is old at Inter? Other than Zanetti and Lucio (who is still outstanding) I can't think of many who are past their best.

They aren't young, but they aren't so old that only LAST SEASON, infact, about 6 months ago put the end onto a season that included an treble, and winning the CL, beating the supposed best side, and MUCH younger side, on the way.

being 6 months older doesn't suddenly put you on the scrap heap, the team is still very good. I don't think there are that many injuries, was anyone really missing against Spurs? Milito came on late, despite being crucial to the way the team plays, Benitez benched him. Meh. Their performances speak for themselves to be honest, they aren't a patch on last years side. The question is, will Benitez be fired in Jan, or the summer.

When it's Hodgson it's down to him as the Liverpool players came 2nd two seasons ago, when it's Benitez who has a treble winning side it's because the players are old ;)

i've always supported Inter and watched them play since when mancini was manager and its safe to say that mourihno changed them from a league winning team that dominated serie A to becoming a force in Europe. Although it did take 2 or 3 season to get there what was done right was getting the tactics right. I knew this would happen to Inter once benitez got there , of course the injuries dont help but there a sense of them looking lost on the pitch over the last couple of games. lets face it whoever was after mourihno would have a tough task but at the moment its not looking good for benitez. i did find it strange when benitez left out milito for the spurs game and also the marking of gareth bale which was such a school boy error. lets see what happens in the next few games, should be very interesting.

Graham Poll on the weekend.

Luka Modric did not dive on Saturday and nor did David Bentley last week. Yet both Tottenham players were cautioned for simulation.

Given that this season has seen a lot of diving being ignored why have Tottenham players suddenly found themselves being cautioned when others have gone unpunished?

Last Tuesday evening Howard Webb was refereeing Tottenham versus Sunderland and decided to caution Bentley when he went to ground in the penalty area after a clash with Bolo Zenden.

It appeared that Zenden had mistimed his tackle and accepted that he would not have complained had Webb given a penalty in a post match interview.

Then on Saturday Andre Marriner not only waved away Spurs appeals after Modric appeared to be tripped by Blackburn's Miguel Salgado but also issued the Croat with a yellow card.

Maybe he was still thinking about Pavlyuchenko's really pathetic appeal seconds earlier? Whatever, he certainly erred and if you don't believe in coincidences then you might be excused for thinking that the top refs have decided to toughen up the battle against the divers. And not before time.

However, if they are to step up the battle then they need to be more accurate than with those two Tottenham cautions.

I have always accepted that there will be innocent casualties if the war against the cheats is to be won but not those as innocent as Modric and Bentley.

The problem for referees when dealing with simulation is that players make it very difficult for them and FIFA does not help. Players have to accept that they are making a referees life very difficult by going to ground so easily and so often, apparently happy to 'win' penalties when they don't deserve them.

FIFA don't help either with the advice that if there is any contact between players then the referee should not caution for simulation. That slight and fair contact which is exaggerated to con the ref needs to be punished if it is to be stopped.

So have Tottenham been targeted due to their propensity to go down easily? I don't believe so. Having looked at previous incidents if diving this season I am hard pushed to think of an incident involving a Spurs player.

I can also say that in all of my 14 years of refereeing on the Premier League there was never a concerted campaign to identify certain teams or specific players in an attempt to make a statement of intent – and nor should there be.

Bentley and Modric were just two innocent victims and the fact that they play for the same team is a coincidence.

All referees should not be deterred by those errors but strive to improve detection and then resolve to punish those who tarnish the beautiful game.

Good week for...
Branislav Ivanovic who escaped a clear red card from Chris Foy late in the first half of Chelsea's defeat at home against Sunderland. Chris Foy was the referee who refused to send Ivanovic off despite a very clear and obvious goal scoring opportunity being denied by the Serb. Mind you given the score Ivanovic probably wasn't grateful for Foy's leniency.

Bad week for...
The respect programme which is still limping along according to the FA. On Saturday Rio Ferdinand screamed abuse at an assistant after he was not given a free kick while Nani showed virtual contempt for Mike Dean when he was rightly cautioned.

Who was the manager (I think it was in Europe) that came out after a game last week, in which he'd been sent to the stands by the ref and later fined, and just said "Yeah, it was deserved, I was out of line, I apologise"?

Was actually a shock, you just expect them all to rant and moan these days. Made me realise how far we have to go with the "respect" nonsense.

Also Tottenham get punished because they're not really top 4 yet. You need at least a couple of seasons up there before you get to join the special club where all the decisions go your way. ;)

Coming from a United fan?
Cant wait to see your owners pull you under.

Enjoy your wait!

Mind you, I suppose you could describe anyone who wanted a club to go under as a bit of a tit. Not that i'd make that accusation in any particular instance of course.
