English League Football ** spoilers ** [21st - 23rd August 2010]

Our match was a very straightforward affair, especially after the sending off and some pretty good football was played.

Off the pitch, their fans were fantastic and I felt rather embarrassed with their constant signing throughout the match in which they were totally outplayed, compared to our feeble and sporadic efforts. Although the "this is the best trip, I've ever been on" song became boring after a couple of minutes.

I think every side should play to win, there isnt that huge a gulf in the physical qualities of the players in each team, its as much a mentality problem or poor management that has half these teams beaten before they even take to the pitch.

They do play to win, everton played to frustrate, smother and try to nick a single goal with a lone striker against the big clubs.

Using the best methods with the players at their disposal. Fans of big clubs always throw the dummy out when this happens. So what, it's better than trying to attack a team that will rip you to shreds.

Its a valid tactic, no one complains when a boxer doesn't try to stand toe to toe with someone who hits twice as hard and fast and uses his brain to win by other means.

Fans of these big clubs try to make out teams such as everton then do that against everyone, they don't they do it when they are up against it. If your team is worth 10 times as much you should still be able to break us down.

Walcott was playing behind ChamWOW! I hear? About time he played as a forward then.

He wasn't, he just spent more time further forwards because Blackpool barely got in our half, its bad for the team, Wenger now won't drop him for ages and he won't do that against anyone decent. His wingplay was still horrible, and got the ball in situations to cross/pass the ball on fast breaks and missed the easiest pass of his career to a completely open Arshavin, with tonnes of space to pass into that would have given him essentially a tap in and he fluffed it, fluffed about 4 other simple passes in similar situations.

His last goal was good, the other two were massively helped by a keeper who, apparently doesn't dive? He just drops to the floor, but doesn't move sideways as he does so, Walcotts first shot was well placed, but not hit hard, the keeper just didn't dive sideways, just down, his second shot was similar but way closer to the keeper.

Chamakh's goal was similar, it was right by the keepers foot, VDS/Freidal are great keepers at using their feet when its quicker than getting down to the ball, both would have saved it, and most keepers would have saved it with their hands, again the keeper dived down rather to his side, very odd, worst keeper(or keeper performance) I've seen in some time.

Arshavin was hugely hugely better than well, he has been in a long time, Rosicky was FAR more mobile than Nasri with much more accurate passing last week, but helped by playing a significantly worse team.

Song, Diaby, didn't have a chance to screw up, I swear I forgot Vermaelen was playing till the last 10 mins when I saw him in the Blackpool box, hadn't seen him the entire game in a close up at all, the ball was just in our final third for such a ridiculously small time it was laughable.

I think you really can't use a performance against Wigan or Blackpool as a realistic indicator this year, they are going to get thumped by all but the worst teams, badly. Especially if the Blackpool keeper continues to be rooted to the spot, they will concede a LOT this year.

Can anyone tell me who is top of the league please, I'm out and away from the internet. ;)

Great day out yesterday, I really feel QPR can push for the playoffs or maybe even automatic promotion. Taarabt must be one of the most exciting players I've ever seen at Loftus Road.

Lolcheets!

Great performance by the massive premier league club Wigan, did well to keep it at 6. Hope Martinez remembered the lube ;)

@ Skip, just saw the Spurs game on sky, didn't cross the line imo, was a foul on the keeper as well.

Loltummy!

Just about scraping those results against the might of Bury and Brighton eh? Oh wait, you don't come in here to chat about your own club, only to troll anyone who doesn't support Utd or Chelsea, I forget. Sad act.

Agreed, the Blackpool fans were great and I doubt more than a handful left before the final whistle either.

Good performance from Arsenal today, Walcott really did tear them to pieces which bodes well for future games if he can keep that sort of performance up. Arshavin wasn't great really, missed a lot of simple passes and generally seemed off the pace. Chamakh looked a bit rusty and missed a couple of sitters but will settle in fine I'm sure.

Amazing reaction to cesc coming on and he looked pretty sharp too, as did VP.

They do walk some whallop on MOTD sometimes. Trying to make out Gomes was at fault for everything, there's one bit where Hansen is saying something about here comes Gomes again as he fumbles about.... completely ignoring the Stoke player sticking his leg out for him to trip over. Just see's what he wants most of the time.

Who cares what Hansen says? He's just a dinosaur with an axe to grind. It says something when Gary Lineker has to stand up for an Arsenal player after Hansen's criticizing of Theo's performance yesterday. The man is a tool.

Do you ever have anything good to say about the team that you allegedly support? I swear you only watch Arsenal to hate on them, yes it was Blackpool and yes it was only a 10 man Blackpool at that, but it was still a decent performance. This is a team that has been criticized in the past for thinking at 2-0 and 3-0 the game is over and they let other teams back in, like the Wigan match last season, here we are, we've improved mentality if not anything else and you're still having a go. Why don't you just take the positives from a performance for once instead of being a ****ing doom monger? Take your dribble elsewhere if this is what it's going to be like week after week, we just won 6-0 anyone would think by reading your crap that we just did a Wigan and that Blackpools goalkeeper was responsible for everything, which if I remember correctly, and I do, he made some excellent saves, one from Arshavin and one from Chamakh stick out to me.

Chelsea? Eh?

You say scraped past, I say won comfortably ;)

Little touchy because the mighty Stoke lost? :p

I tend to not talk about Wednesday because other then me... Nobody on here gives a poo.

It's always nice to see Stoke lose :p I hate the overly physical game they play. I also don't get why their one decent technical player doesn't start, tuncay (spelling).

Btw,

He didn't criticise Walcott yesterday did he? I thought he just said one good game doesn't make up for the general level of performances he usually puts in.

Maybe his last post wasn't as bad as his usual standard of omgArsenalarecrap, but it's still the fact he always manages to find things to complain about. I'm surprised he didn't just say that Theo Walcott kicks puppies.

Oh wait... we're on about Hansen? Yeah in MOTD it was just the fact he picked out the one or two occasions where Walcott played a bad final ball, despite all the other excellent work he did throughout the game, not to mention the whole "it's only Blackpool" thing. As for DM, he can't be pleased, playing Walcott on the wing is a no-no and letting him roam and move inside like he did yesterday is apparently wrong too, but we all know DM would field a team of cloned Eboue's.

LOL. Was on about Hansen but it's an easy mistake to make given who you quoted.
