English League Football ** spoilers ** [21st - 23rd August 2010]

Nice to see Fulham getting some credit, instead it's just slating Utd :p

read earlier posts - I think there were a lot of Utd fans (while the match was played and just after) stating that Fulham deserved it

Or do we have to put that they deserved it in every post where we reference that game?

did you not read the script? we are 1 point better than last season so we gunna win bro!
.
Talk about completely twisting the meaning to posts

A sizeable portion who think that somehow after 2 games, that 2 years ago we got 1 measly point from and won the league, we've got no chance. I'll never understand that kind of logic.

Its also been 5 points from the first four games over the last two seasons from a couple of articles Ive read today

With West Ham at OT in our 3rd game this season, and crossed fingers Wayne back - I would hope thats 7 points from 3 games this season (although Im not looking forward to Everton away in the 4th match lol)

That's what happens when you have about 50 thousand mancs on here, with a sizable portion of miserable sods in them.

You are miserable enough for everyone else put together so shut it!!!! :D

(If Ive drunk too much at lunch time then Im sorry - its seriously not meant as any kind of personal attack)

Of course Sham I should have considered that!!!

thats what happens when the mighty reds lose 2 points. sorry i mean gain a useful point.

but yes, the benchmark like i said isnt what we do, or even what we did last season. it is about what chelsea are doing and whether we can better, hell even matching them would do in the league.

Liverpool team for tonight:

.................Reina
Glen J....Carra....Skrtel......Agger
.
Kuyt.....Gerrard....Lucas.....Jovan
.
..........Ngog
.....................Torres

Bench:
Babel Aurelio Soto Maxi Poulson pacheco

Been training / practicing 4-4-2 all week from best i can tell, Babel likely to come on for torres late in the second half as there are still worries about his fitness.

Bench keeper still to be decided - for what its worth

Looks like Masch is defiantly off then.

We need a left back. Agger has the potential to be one of the best CBs around, but doesn't cut it at full back for me :(

He's obviously great defensively but just brings nothing going forward like an Evra or a Cole.

I don't trust him as much defensively when he's on the left either though - he looks like what he is, a centre back out of position, just as Skrtel did last season at right back, or Henchoz a few years ago. Agger is a little more adept than either of them, but it's still a worry.

Personally, I wonder whether it's finally time to start, slowly, playing Agger and Skrtel in the middle, and easing Carra to the fringes. He's been a fine servant, but ultimately those two are our future. That said, I'd still play Carra with all his experience in a game like tonight's.

It does keep us more solid though, against the better teams. with 3 good solid defenders back at all times.
Glen can get forward easier, kuyt can keep forward without worrying about being there to cover Glen. The 3 at the back shift over to cover if an attack is coming down our right (Opponents left wing) and a CM / Jovan is prepared to slot into left back untill Glen is back into position. If an attack comes down the other wing, its a) slowed down somewhat due to agger being a solid defender and b) allows plenty of time for the other side to shift back into position after attacking.

Its the system he used at Fulham, and the system MoN used at Villa too.

Prefer a regular LB against weak opps though, obviously.

-edit-

As for carra, i think he should remain first choice for this season, last thing we need is anything else which might backfire after last season. Without Carra i worry about the back 4, there needs to be someone to kick their behinds into action when they screw up. Once Pepe has the armband (Bound to happen sooner or later!) then i will worry less ;)

Liverpool team is as Alpherah posted earlier. Interesting to see what Roy's got to say about Masch, hopefully he's just injured.

edit: Hodgson's more or less said Masch's not in the right frame of mind to play with the speculation over his future however he'll only be sold if we get an offer that meets our valuation and he hopes to be able to pick Masch again soon.
