English League Football ** spoilers ** [21st - 23rd August 2010]

Well if he wasn't meant to take the penalty then the only explanations to why he took it is that Giggs' bottle went or Nani wanted it and Giggs just let him.

It wasn't an awful penalty but it gave the keeper a decent chance of saving it if he went the right way. You shouldn't have needed the 3rd goal but it would have ended the game; a 1 goal lead is never enough no matter how well you defended. It only takes 1 moment of magic, a mistake, a deflection or a bad decision and you're all square.

Does this seem overly harsh to anyone

In the end it's not like Nani missed it, the goalie made a good save and perhaps Fergie should be more concerned that our defence can't hold out for 3 mins and concedes from a sloppy set piece.

No I dont actually - Nani shouldnt have been taking the pen with Giggs on the field

Defence should have been stronger - yes thats true - but CC isnt a bogey ground for nothing ya know :)

They wouldnt have scored if they had gone 3 - 1 down with 3 minutes to go or whatever, but given the "boost" of a missed penalty any home team will always find that extra lift for the last few minutes imo and the 2nd half + a bit had been a lot more even in comparison to first 35 minutes or so

I believe Man.U. equalled their PL GD record last season with +50 odd, but Chelsea eclipsed that with +70 odd.
Man.U. last season were just as good an allround side as Chelsea but we just scored a stupid amount of goals, Man.U. didn't really lack anywhere on the pitch, domestically.

Take away 12/13 for Own goals ;)

Nani is just trying to be a higher profile player. take more personal responsibility, score the last minute penalty and take some glory.

ve seen him take them before, he is usually pretty confident and they go in.

could be game over in the premiership already now. only if we can beat chelsea twice can we do anything about this. and given our central midfield deficiencies and chelseas strength on top of malouda weighing in and dorgba:./

Optimist much? ;)

well you could say that UTD stutter to a draw and a win, better than last season but chelseas 2x 6-0 wins surely sets a standard that we cannot match, well its proven that we cannot match it as we have already fallen well behind.

dont be so ******* stupid

1stly - Chelsea WILL lose/draw games for one reason or another in the next 36, even thins early its highly unlikely that goal difference will come into it, so they COULD win 28 games lose/draw 10 (similar to last year) and still lose on points

They are capable of being clinical without doubt (as they were at periods last year) but they are just as capable of stuttering to a draw/loss as any of the other top teams

2) It would be great if Utd could beat them home and away, but it isnt essential (both games were pretty close, which certainly on one game relied on ref decisions - just as easily as they could go our way this season) - Utd are still a match for anyone on any particular day, even with such a "weak" squad Utd could get 4/6 points from the two games without being in "dreamland"

3) Whether you compare this result agianst the 2nd game last season, or the actual fulham away game result - Utd still gained a point compared to last year - so even ONE SOLITARY point from both of hte Chelsea games would give Utd the title (if all other results were the same of course)

Im not presuming Utd have already won it - Im just saying small things allow you to win, draw or lose a game and by extention the title, with 36 games to go its pretty darn stupid to already give up on the title

(just to be clear , Im not writing off any other team either - Chelsea are the favourites from the mere fact they won the last title and they have strenthened - I would say - more significantly, but they are still beatable and will undoubtedly drop points to bring others into the race when it gets going)

yeah 3-0 was a very solid win, and it looks even better considering exactly the same Newcastle side just destroyed the team that finished 6th in the premiership last term.

Well done to Newcastle, they thoroughly deserved the result

It cant really be described as the same team though - yes the Club did get 6th, but with no manager and whatever other players apart from Milner leaving, AV were a complete mess yesterday - AV were always there for the taking

Villa were a complete mess. Never saw a team defend that badly last year in the Championship.

I'd be delighted if we (newcastle) finished 4th bottom

it wasnt a 6-0 though was it? thats what i call a win.

V fulham we needed an own goal and only a dodgy penalty would have won us the game.

this is true but will they draw/lose more than man Utd... i just dont think so. ive already stated why numerous times. center mids for instance to some people doesnt seem to matter but it does in a proper game of football, unforunately:/

and yet with exactly the same 1st team as last season - we were a single point from the title.......exactly the same amount as we gained yesterday as explained above (in relation to last season)

(ok so Utd need to get another single point to counteract the goal diff - sure - but that isnt as hard as it seems either)

Oh my days, never thought i would see the day a united fan was complaining about their chances to win the league :o

Thats because you have not been here very long, search through the older posts when united were way off the pace behind arsenal and then chelsea under maureen. Its frustrating because our weaknesses have been obvious for 2 seasons and fergie has done nothing about it. I say that its only this season where he has made some moves that start to address some of the problems.

yeah when United have to play Blackpool, they will only manage to win 5-0, and as we all know there is no surer sign of the apocalypse than that!! :D

ABTPX

^^ oh dear.

did you not read the script? we are 1 point better than last season so we gunna win bro!

chillax with the dissing of fergie. he got the name on his shirt: I AM LEGEND

and dont you forget it because no one in this forum will let you.
