English League Football ** spoilers ** [2nd - 3rd October 2010]

Dalglish was never going to be considered and not because he's been out of the game for so long but because of how highly he's thought of by the fans.

Dalglish could never have been a yes man for the board like Hodgson has been and they knew they couldn't treat Dalglish like they did Benitez out of fear of an even greater backlash from the fans.

Yup, thats basically it.
We've been asset stripped, sell the average and buy in worse at a saving, less wages etc.
Part of the last financing deal was for stability at the club, hence the board having to offer a new contract to Rafa (And giving into his demands for full transfer controls).
They needed him gone, Purslow used his PR machine to work the press and get him gone, get in a yes man and jobs a good-un.

Maybe that'll make Gerrard realise what a PITA he is when he plays for England.

Maybe so, but thats playing on the left.
In the middle for In-gur-land he's been playing really well, if Lampard gets back into the team .. well, as a nation we should give up. I dont even rate Gerrard in the CM position and hes still twice the player for the national team in the middle then anyone else we have there at the moment. If only Hargreaves hadnt been injured so much :( could have been a good combo them two for the national team.

It's not the fault of the players, it's the system and role they're being asked to play.

Cole played numerous games on the left for Chelsea without any problems, but if Hodgson tells him to play left and he keeps straying inside that's not the manager's fault.*

*I do think Hodgson should go sooner rather than later though.

Really? Im not happy with Roy either like the rest of us but its partly the players fault its not all one sided they could quite easily show more effort and passion than they are doing at the moment.

I cant see how this Blackpool result doesnt cost Roy his job by end of play tonight.

Liverpool being in the bottom three after 7 games is simply unaceptable by any standards for a club of liverpools stature.

Just seen the de Jong challenge and it's a complete shocker.

Looks like the ref didn't deal with it at the time so hopefully the fa can retrospectively ban him fir a good few games as it's all he deserves.

Feel sorry for ben arfa, looked like a quality young player but doubt he will play again this season meaning back to France for him next year. Real pity as he's good, now were stuck with Routledge who is a useless plonker at PL level.
Got a link mate? as i only saw the view where it doesnt show anything. I can gurantee that wont happen because it wasnt as bad as his tackle on Alonso and FIFA didnt give him a ban at all.

It's always regrettable when someone gets hurt that badly, but from that angle there really didn't look like any mallicious intent from de Jong. He went for the ball and Ben Arfas leg was at a very unfortunate angle when de Jongs trailing leg collided. I'l be watching it again on MOTD tonight though.

If it is a case of Hodgson telling him to stay left and he's not then he should be subbed off and not play the next game. The fact that he's played the same role for the past 3 games makes me think that he's not being told to hug the touch line.

I was talking specifically about Cole and Meireles playing out wide but coming in field.
