They shunned a major label deal, yes. They had already moved down the path of recording, producing and releasing their own album. So instead, they secured a publishing deal which would give them the push of a major in terms of advertising and promotion etc but would still allow them to do whatever they wanted to do since they have no label.

On the whole though, i feel they're quite over-rated. I thought the early stuff was good, and I remember begging the guitarist of Fell Silent to bring their tour up here, but it never materialized and I sorta went off them. What I've heard is a bit "meh" really. They have a good idea, but I don't feel they are utilizing it as well as they could.

I'll still check out their album though.

From what I've seen on Kerrang/Scuzz etc and ESPECIALLY Redemption channel - they are TERRIBLE!

Their live performance was atrocious, it actually hurt my ears... the guitar tone on the redemption show is the worst guitar tone I have ever heard in the world. EVER. And the songs are horrific.... not to mention the actual music...

Jesus that band is actually my most hated band of all time, and believe me they have had some solid opposition to that post!

All these bands now seem to have a whiney keyboardist who just screeches in the background. They're terrible tbh.

I can't stand them personally, I really don't get on with this kiddie screaming thing that seems to be the way with a lot of bands at the moment.

Gutteral screaming is best left to those who know how to do it, big hairy men like Phil Anselmo, Burton C Bell and Max Cavalera (note nostalgic wander down memory lane to 90's metal bands).

Yeh i dont like them. But they are from my home town, St Albans and I do know one of them, his girlfriend is mates with me ex. Yeh but still, they do suck. They were born out of the 13 yr old girls band event that is 'the pioneer' in st a. The next mcfly but screamo i feel.....

dont mind them tbh a mates band has supported them a few times

nothing special IMO but im not really into the sort of music they play :o

I wish they hadn't become all cool and popular. They used to play a little gig near here like every week. It's pretty funny people think they are brand new and cutting edge by adding computerised stuff to heavier music than usual.
Listen to Horse the band or something if you like that. It's much better.

Edit: But still at least they aren't as bad and based of fashion as bring me the horizon

I actually quite like them, but from after listening to the album it doesn't seem to have any of the passion or liveliness that the original live versions had. Some of it is a bit OTT and I can see why people will not like them etc.

I wish people wouldn't compare ES to HORSE The Band. Just because they're both playing heavy music with electronic bits does not make them similar. ES are a poor haircut hardcore band who think they're being innovative by putting 'rave' bits in; this all despite the fact that they're too young to have been into rave the first time around.

BMTH are just comical. There's no debate to enter into.

Enter shikari played a local town festival near me last year and i have to say it was a good small gig and i quite like them. They seem to have blown up pretty fast for what i would see as a 'myspace band' and i shall hopefully be seeing them on the 3
31st!

I like how you agreed with me on every point but in a really arguementative way :p
