Entitlement what can we do about it.

How is it not true?

In 1982 the average house was £24,852.

The average wage for a man in full time work was £154 a week, or £8,008 a year, for women it was £4,888.

For men it was 3.1x the average income, for women it was just over 5x. 4.05x on average.

Now the average wage is £38,131 for a full time worker, however earning disparity being so much greater skews this somewhat with the median income for full time workers being around £31,000.

Yes... but you can't. Which is the issue I was pointing out.
I’m in my phone so I can’t link right now but regarding average wage, you also need to break it down by age group as the older age group skews the result higher.

Yep, should be looking at the Median salary of people in the average FTB age range (which has gotten notably older over the years).

40 years ago was 1982, channel 4 started, 65%+ had central heating, mobile phones became available, fridge freezers were commonplace (Findus crispy pancakes came out in 1958 ffs), outside toilets counted for less than 10% of households. You're talking complete and utter ********.

Seriously, who had a mobile phone in 1982? There was hardly anyone with one even in 1992.

They started getting popular and commonplace in the late '90s.

Turns out they weren't available in 1982.

Ivan Donn sold the country's first mobile on 15th September 1984. He was a trainee apparently.

I'll save that for a pub quiz :)

So did they just release the info in 1982 then saying they were coming? Just checked and it says..

What cell phones were available in 1982?
The first mobile phone – introduced in 1982 by Motorola (model DynaTac 8000X) – had astonishing weight of two-pounds.

Yeah I've been looking too, it seems there's a whole swathe of release info, availability info and some don't seem to marry up.

I do remember seeing one City guy walking about with one on TV and I'm sure he had a battery in a wheelie trolley or something. No idea when that was.

I’m not sure where else to post this, but I feel very sad the BBC is currently promoting budget food ideas to help people save money, on the main page of its news website.

Jesus. The thought of somebody worried about money to feed their family, and then reading this to help themselves out, makes me feel ill. I know it happens all around the world all the time… and family food planning is nothing new. But, yeah.

No doubt the cost of living crisis is affecting people badly - just articles like this on the BBC News front page make that reality hit home and make me realise how lucky I am!

I liked that article tbh. Some of the recipes looked decent and who isn't looking to keep costs down these days?

When I was young I had many friends. After I got a fat pc with broadband in 2001 they all disappeared. The need for other humans in real life dropped and my entitlement rose. With mobile phones this has been happening more and more over broad spectrums of normies. I fear for the breakdown of society
