The Epic Games store is now open, featuring awesome high-quality games from other developers. Our goal is to bring you great games, and to give game developers a better deal: they receive 88% of the money you spend, versus only 70% elsewhere. This helps developers succeed and make more of the games you love.

The first games on the store are Hades by Supergiant Games, Ashen by Annapurna/A44, and Hello Neighbor: Hide and Seek by tinyBuild, and they’re available now!

Hades is the rogue-like dungeon crawler from the creators of Bastion and Transistor. It is available in early access, with updates to come every month until full release later in 2019.

Ashen is an action RPG about a wanderer in search of a home. You can forge relationships in the game, inviting other players to join your camp - they might just help you succeed.
Hello Neighbor: Hide and Seek is the prequel to Hello Neighbor, the stealth horror hit. Find out what happened right before the events of the main game.

The store will also feature one free game every two weeks throughout 2019. Epic is funding these free releases so you always have something new to come and check out. The first free game will be Subnautica, available from Dec 14th to Dec 27th, followed by Super Meat Boy from Dec 28th to Jan 10th.

The Epic Games store will be growing throughout 2019 and beyond, as it opens up more widely to other games.

I'm sick of the bloated, laggy mess steam has become so I'll be checking the epic store out for sure. I don't really have an issue with too many stores anymore, but I still outright refuse to touch EA's Origin. Currently have:

Steam - Used almost daily
uPlay - Used almost daily
Battenet - rarely used
GoG - rarely used, only got the Witcher series on it.

Probably can add Bethesda too as Rage 2 might be exclusive to that launcher. And who knows? Square Enix could get in on the act with Tomb Raider/Deus Ex/whatever. ;)

It seems so far like it's just a period of exclusivity. Rebel something-or-other is there for 12 months. Ashen is coming to Windows Store at some point on Game Pass. I guess the others will eventually, too.

I think the PSN login is just for ease of use so you don’t have to create a new login/password. It may give you access to friends but it won’t be game sharing.

Next game (Jackbox Party Pack) is available now.

And coming up in two weeks time is Axiom Verge. That's a nice bonus as it's another one I've wanted to play but never purchased.

Epic VP of Engineering said "We only import your Steam friends with your explicit permission. The launcher makes an encrypted local copy of your localconfig.vdf Steam file. However information from this file is only sent to Epic if you choose to import your Steam friends, and then only hashed ids of your friends are sent and no other information from the file."

I don't have my Steam account connected, only my PlayStation Network one. So I guess it shouldn't be doing anything with my Steam data. Except it is and they're supposedly going to fix that.

Tim Sweeney said ""The current implementation is a remnant left over from our rush to implement social features in the early days of Fortnite. It's actually my fault for pushing the launcher team to support it super quickly and then identifying that we had to change it. Since this issue came to the forefront we're going to fix it."

Tut tut. I for one am never going to buy a purchase from their store, even if Borderlands 3 is exclusive to it.

Whats contained in that vdf file? If its just my friends list then I'm not bothered, its not like I have Julian Assange on my friends list or anything :D

I think it's all your friends, all your games, the games you played last. It's harmless stuff really but the idea that they are poking around for it without asking your permission is what gets me.
