I’ve picked up some games on Epic and thought “meh”. Then a year later I’ve found out the game is actually a gem I hadn’t heard of.

I have a look regularly.. and just pick a random game that I would probably never have purchased.. and give it a go.. there have been a few where i've played to completion.. and others i've played for an hour and know I won't play again so un-install.. pity I can't remove them completely from my library.. or at least mark them in some way.. as with my aging memory i'll probably try them again in a year or two having forgotten i've tried them
Same, I have "Would have bought/Really like", "Will most likely play/like", "Might play, or something I know well or have tried but didn't really like", "Have heard of or looks interesting", "Games I knowingly hate or despise, or games I know nothing about and don't look that interesting". Although I just number the categories 1 to 5.I've categorised my Epic Games library into 'Will play', 'Might play', and everything else has been left uncategorised. I scrutinise the giveaways to avoid claiming something that I'll never play and that will only clutter up my library. It is good to try out games I have lukewarm interest in, but I do have a habit of wanting to finish things even if enjoyment is waning. Darkest Dungeon was initially enjoyable for the first 10 hours or so but became a repetitive slog; it seemed the narrator had a point "Success so clearly in view... or is it merely a trick of the light?" It took 60 hours to complete. I'd have been dissuaded if I'd known beforehand.
Same here, it great when you hear of a game, start looking into it and then realise you already have it.I’ve picked up some games on Epic and thought “meh”. Then a year later I’ve found out the game is actually a gem I hadn’t heard of.
Did that with Prey. Was always curious but didn't go for it because I was too ****** at Arkane for not putting out another Dishonoured. Got it for free, tried it and boom. In my top 3 now.Yeah that’s happened several times with me. Look at something on Steam that seems interesting and behold, epic have given it away. It’s there ready for me to take a gander at.

One thing I have done a couple of times is play a game for free on Epic and really like it. Then buy it on Steam for achievements. I know that Epic has achievements but I just don't care about them.
Right at the moment for me, no...as I already have Medieval Dynasty, Path of Exile 2, Indiana Jones and Stalker 2 on the go, with Alien VR to come next week. So I dont have a slot for it currently, but its the sort of game that I can fit in when theres a bit of a lull in releases, especially for freeIs it worth installing and playing? The idea really appeals but some of the reviews on steam are a bit "meh"
With Heroic Launcer on Steam Deck, I go through my catalogue of free stuff on Epic and GOG from time to time. Surprised the list of this year's Xmas freebies hasn't leaked yet like it usually does.

It's been posted a couple of times already.
