Why not, the guy has only scored 8 goals in 100 games at Chelsea/Blackburn/Wigan and you know what he is going to do, no back lift, just a cheeky punt.

It is not final, calm down, I am sure Rotty or Andybtsn will make a shortlist of 5/10 goals and poll after 38 games. ;)

Calm down? :p If my post came across as anything other than a suggestion, it was unintended.

Just because Di Santo is dump, and scores a decent goal it doesn't elevate it's quality ;)

Someone blamed the wind for cisses goal?

Get a life... :p you cant say that was the weather.

It was just an unreal goal, the flight of the ball would confuse anyone in goal no matter where they were stood.

It was a 1 in a million goal probably, never to be repeated for a long time. That is what a goal of the season should be.

A lob is done more often than you think, a nice curled placed shot is done regular.

For massively unpredictable goal you have to say Cisse or Crouch. 2 very different goals probably just as unpredictable.

One being Crouch, enough said.

The other being the way the ball flew through the air, the fact Cisse took a shot from where he did, everything about it was just wtf

I'm surprised the Ban Arfa goal hasn't been suggested considering how much the Newcastle fans were going on about it, or have they finally realised it was mainly down to poor defending?

The ball sat up quite nicely for Cisse to hit it whereas Crouch had to control it and then take the shot. There was a chance Cech could have saved the Cisse goal, Hart on the other hand was left to watch in amazement as the Crouch goal went in, so for those two reasons, I think Crouch's was the best.

Nothing to realise, Ben Arfas goal was sublime and I explained the reasons why the last time.

When are you going to realise you know next to naf all about
football?

Cheets can't seem to maintain any objectivity and do it so overtly it's actually embarrassing. To mention the Di Santo goal with the rest of them is a joke :P

For me RVP or Cisse. Crouch's was a hit and hoper - IT'S PETER CROUCH!

As for Cisse being found out? He's averaged over a goal every other game for every team he's played for who have been average sides creating few chances for him. He was second top scorer in the German league playing for a team who finish 14th and 9th only to Gomez who play's for the bests side in the league Bayern. He's been found out in Newcastle as a truly great finisher yes :)

I'd go for RvP I think, with Cisse very close behind!
The thing with goal of the season, it should be pure skill and talent. Cisse's goal, while it is amazing, he has just gone up to the ball and lamped it one (yes, yes amazing, but it's not that hard to make it swerve on the half volley like he did, it's just that it went in from where it did) . RvP on the other hand had to create the space, watch his run, see the flight of the ball over his shoulder down on to his left foot for a volley across goal.

As much as i'd ilke to say RvP (although i think his one against Liverpool was better) I can't look past Cisse, awesome, out of this world strike.

Crouch's was a hit and hoper - IT'S PETER CROUCH!

Are you for real? Crouch's goal was no more hit and hope than Cisse's or any other volley from outside the box.

Cisse's was a brilliant goal, but he was knackered and just lashed the ball. Ba translated as much in the after match interview.

For me Cisse just wins it because of the swerve on the ball and the pace it seems to travel at. That's taking nothing away from Crouch because his was also a fantastic strike.

Crouch for me by quite a long way, it's just ridiculous. Cisse goal has a hint of lucky slice, I actually prefer Modric's goal last night.

How can it be a lucky slice though? You know he meant to strike the ball like that as any other shot with that foot would have been straight into the crowd. If you argue there was luck in the shot then you have to say that about every single good goal other wise they would be scoring every single shot.

Well partly by the response from the 2 players. Crouch admitted he had been practising that shot whilst training, Cisse (according to people on here) said he just "hit it". I would argue about consistency, I think Crouch could hit that target again, given the chance. I believe Cisse although in amazing form would hit row Z trying to perform that again.

Playing devil's advocate here, given that Crouch's is repeatable doesn't that make Cisse's more special?

Every single goal in the OP's short list has an element of hit it and hope about it, given how many stunners Cisse has scored though I think his was the most unlikeliest to be a fluke, Crouch has scored plenty of stunners as well though (mainly overhead kicks but still)

I would say it was definitely more of a "one-off" rather than "more special" I would always pick what I felt was more technical than pot luck. Wasn't there a goal this season scored by a keeper due to the wind / bad bounce? we will never see a goal like that for a while! ;)

Tim Howard. My team did it the next week in the county cup :)

I've seen at least a dozen examples of that goal over the years, and in that case it can be classed as pure luck because at no point is the keeper thinking of going for goal.

Don't think I've ever seen anyone even attempt what Cisse pulled off last night, you can be sure Petr Cech went from feeling 100% safe, to oh **** a split second later.

cisse for me

its the sort of shot that every kid who got predator boots when they first came out would attempt all weekend on the top field
