Equal rights, equal... hitting?

that got a giggle... but im glad there appear to be some men with morals out there.. or at least those that actually see that 99% of the time, its flat out wrong!
so.. the person you love gets into a bit of a cat fight over something.. you would hit the other girl involved?
i mean, if it were a man attacking her.. then christ, by all means, go for it. but another woman, that you could probably just hold back pretty easily anyway?

Wouldnt hit a woman but why would you feel the need to hit his new partner.
A lady acts like one and wouldn't hit me in the first place. Some boozed up chav slapper with sailor tattoos and a cracking punch would get one back if she started.
Women wanted equal rights, they can have them.
sorry, no tazers, light sabers.. nothing. if they were available things would be MUCH different..

I'd never hit anybody really. And I'd especially never hit a woman but there are exceptions to every rule. If a woman mugger was trying to nick my mom's handbag (probably *touches wood* unlikely) then I'd have no problem in introducing my foot to her face.
Depends on the nature of it, but if a girl started laying into my girlfriend then I wouldn't hesitate in hitting them to get them to stop.
The idea that someone should expect no real comeback because of their size isn't right, might knock some sense into them.
I don't see it any different between a man assualting a man and a man assualting a woman to be honest. The crime is the same, so the self-defence is no different.

ah, sorry- i should mention i wasnt around when this whole equality thing was fought for. ok so we can do some jobs that men can.. but at the end of the day, men are mostly stronger, so why take things further than they need to go by hitting her, rather than restraining her? i know if i saw or heard of any man hitting a woman without extreme due cause.. there would just be no respect left for them. and a lot of people think like that, i thought a lot of men thought like that, too. most who i have asked feel that they could never hit a woman, at the least because they would never need to. especially if it was only over some catfight ..
If you attacked someone's girlfriend for whatever reason then I don't think it's acceptable for the boyfriend to charge in with his fists flying when your fight isn't with him and you could probably be restrained.
Then again if people see someone they care about getting attacked then instinct to protect could take over and simply restraining someone might not cross their mind.
I'm not saying that it makes it right but no-one knows how they'll react for sure in that situation until it occurs.

If I punch her and she drops to the floor she can do me for assualt, if I grab hold of her and try to restrain her she can do me for sexual assault. Sad, but that's the way society works these days.

I dont agree with hitting a female/lady and I deffinilty dont think someone should threaten you with such action. The sad thing is some females play on this and will assult a male based on the idea that the male cant hit back, the term 'lady' I suppose is to imply a female of a better moral standing.
very unlikely in a fight situation, when there's lots of witnesses. Unless it's all her mates.
I'd definitely hit a woman if I felt it was necessary. If someone attacked my fiancee then I would defend her with all my might.
I've got far more respect for someone who will defend their partner from attack rather than just fanny about because of the attacker's gender.
I can't see why punching a bloke makes you 'hard', and punching a woman makes you 'scum'.

thats to get them to stop, though. assuming they were continually beating her. im saying that it was said, i hit her [and stop, no more, no laying into someone..] and regardless, i would get hit back.
Exactly, a gentleman doesn't hit ladies, but he can swot away the riffraff and peasants (regardless of gender) with his walking stick if they should interrupt his evening walk.

It should all depend on the physical presence and dominance/inferiority of them. Your aggressive actions towards a person should relate only to their immediate threat.
For example, if there was a great big burly woman whos a good fighter swinging for me or someone i love then i would retaliate in full force. Same if there was a great big burly man whos a good fighter attacking.
If a weak woman was swinging for me or a loved one id use enough force to constrain her. Exact same if it was a weak man.
The only reason people think its wrong to attack a woman is because woman are generally weaker than men, its a physical and biological fact. But still some women will be stronger than some men, and some men will be weaker than some women.
