loving gmote.. its a bit buggy, but the concept is really good

also, ive now had to resort to having the .. wifi, gps, mobile inet, brightness and sync all toggle buttons on the first home screen to save battery life lol
also,

whats the best free task killer?

taskiller.. apollo.. advanced

i think the first two seem better

Are there any other apps like Gmote? I remember logitech did one for the iPhone. Is it available for Android yet? Also I remember one came out before the Logitech one, but cannot remember the name...

Hey I was just wondering if any of you could suggest some good Wifi, bluetooth etc widgets that are like the ones on the Sense UI? I tried some before but they didn't work right.

I'm after something like this aswell. I'm getting sick of going into the settings overtime!

You can try "Beautiful Widgets" if the HTC Widget isn't up to scratch, not sure if it has a 3G switch though.

Have you tried the Settings Widget?

I use CardioTrainer, which is great I think.

Will check out SportyPal and have to try it out tomorrow. :)

The UI of SportyPal looks a lot nicer, will have to see what the stats and graphs are like later on when I go for a run. :)

Where did you find the nexus one photo gallery?

Yup, on XDA.

It works perfectly. It's the only thing i've noticed my phone slowing up on and i mean ever so slightly. I think due to the speed of the phone, if something doesn't open right away, i question it!!

Anyways, it works perfect, apart from a little icon which should take you directly to the camera mode, but it's no biggie what so ever.

I love the gallery, it's awesome :)

sportypal is awesome, and the addition of uploading to their website for free is great means you can share you workout, and also you can export it as a gpx format :D

I haven't been using Task Killer since Monday afternoon and so far I haven't noticed any slowdowns. Everything is still smooth and working fine. I did fine with the G1 over time things would slow down so using Task Killer was essential. So far it appears the Desire doesn't need it.

Shine,

I disagree.

I did the same for a few days and it was slower when browsing through the people app and also opening the browser. When i say slow, i mean like, 0.1 seconds slower, but there was still a noticable difference. Everything else was fine. The battery never really suffered, which was a good thing.

My task killer keeps me alarm from working, even though i've made the appropriate exceptions so i may get rid of it as my alarm is more valuable than closing background apps.

Opening the browser hasn't slowed (as far as I can tell). I also spent some time cleaning up my contacts - moving everything into gmail and merging duplicates so this has significantly reduced the size of my contact list. It could be why I've not noticed any slow dows in the people app. I'm going to continue running without Task Killer for now as I don't seem to need it.

Nice.

The people app takes just over 1 second to load and open... maybe i'm just expecting too much? (I have about 80 google contacts only) - what about you?

But when the app is running in the background it happens instantly.

Ok,

I've disabled ATK from startup and from the notification bar.

I'd prefer not having a task killer, so i'm not going to use it. I'll have it installed just incase an app hangs or something along those lines.

:)

My friend installed the google sat nav (which apparently only works in the us of a), and it works perfect. It also gives you street view. It looks absolutely superb :)

... currently waiting for the apk :)

When you use google street view for the journey is there an option to download all images for the correct route? so that you can download those on wifi and not be destroying your internet bundle? Obviously little use if you get lost but could still be useful?

If you download nav launcher from the Market, it'll download a modified version of Google maps which includes nav for the UK.

I've used it a bit and it's decent considering it's free but there are a couple of things that don't quite work correctly in the UK and it's not as good as CoPilot IMO.

What if any of your 'internet allowance' will sat nav take up?

If you use google maps then it needs to download the maps from the internet. If you use copilot then the maps are installed on the SD card so there is no need to connect to the internet.
