Essential Android Apps

Texting, GPS, Internet, Music, Games, Social Networking anything else which seems useful!

Text i use built in
GPS either built in Nav or i use Copilot which is stunning piece of software but expensive.
Music i use built in app as it does what it says, plays music
Games - Angry birds, Robo Defence, are essential but hundreds out there now depending on taste of games. Carrom3D is good (pool & Snooker)
Social - Twitter & Facebook have their own apps. For forums use Tapatalk. It formats forums that have the support very nicely.
Others - definite get launcher pro (better front end), picsay pro (photo editing), Root your phone and get the latest 2.2 ROM, LCD density changer (changes LCD DPI to fit more on screen). Dialer One (better dial-er).

Read the last 30 pages or so of this thread for some really good apps and advice

I need to try and find a keyboard that has £ instead of $ on the F key as well as .co.uk as an option on the .com button. Any tips?

What version of android are you running? As it requires 2.1 which might be why it's not showing

2.1

I have the samsung i5700 spica running samdroid turbo FE 8 beta 9.

I have got the one which khaaan posted when it first came out, and it ran great, no problems at all, then uninstalled it and now I want to play it again :D and also to try out this new beta release.

What do you mean? there is only the beta2....

Yeah that's the one which I need, had the one installed that you posted when it first came out (beta 1), and then uninstalled it and now I want to play it again :p but I seen that there is a beta 2 version out, but I can't find it on the market

yes you still need one - if you want to kill of tasks that shouldn't be running anyways.

titanium backup, rom manager etc etc etc that run *all* the time.

at least until there's someway of doing an msconfig and stopping them starting till you use em

i don't use them as explained in the guides and by android, we as a community need stop using apps that we suspect hog resources and complain with feedback about the fact. in an ideal world android os is made to have all apps open all the time, but space and spec make that difficult.
