I am using folder organizer to change the stock message app icon on my home screen on my desire. However, when I receive a new sms I am not getting the number appearing on the icon indicating you have x amount of new messages. Is there anyway I can achieve this?

Does anyone else have any problems with Opera Mini?

I can't get it to browse with 3G, but it works with wifi.

The standard browser works in both

Also, any news on Opera Mobile?

Reckless Racing is good fun and runs smooth as a nut on a 1.2ghz 2.1 Rooted Milestone. The overclock of more than 2x base frequency probably aids that, quite a bit :D

Would quite like the marketplace to stop messsing up, though...

When I can be arsed rooting my Desire, I guess I'll overclock it. Sorely tempted to root right now to enable an adblocker.

I have a problem with it - it's crap! I love Opera on my laptop but it's way down the pecking order on Android - Stock, Skyfire and Xscope et al are all better than it...

anyone know of a contacts / backup app that I can use, free, and that I can download through PC as my mates Hero won't connect to the market anymore.

The almost loss of my other half's phone and more importantly almost losing some important family pictures made me look at some automated backup for her photos. We use Flickr, and I've just downloaded a free app called 'Photo Mule' which now automatically uploads any pictures taken. You can set various levels of privacy or get it to prompt you to upload first if you like. Pretty impressed - will never have to worry about her losing pics again!

Loving Winamp!! WiFi sync rocks

Kinda feel a bit nostalgic too having it on the main computer again, been a while :p

me too however I can't find where to fiddle with dolby mobile and srs surround settings? Lame if these can't be changed as it's a highpoint of the phone

Found a great alarm clock called Alarm Clock Plus V2 which supports auto snooze and a host of other settings

Barrage of questions to follow, apologies in advance...

1: I'm new to android and still not sure what rooting means, is it just admin rights over the phone?
Someone in the DHD thread mentioned using VISIONary and then adblock to disable ads, is that a permanent ad disable procedure or will it need to be done everyday? I installed an ad sponsored app, will it only show ads within this app or now within any app if not ad sponsored? Just feel I now have ads showing on all apps and it's annoying :( Although if it's just because they are all ad sponsored then that's explainable

2: Is there a free app to remotely control a pc via http? Similar to what I think LogmeIn Ignition does?

3: Is there an app that schedules profiles? ie during work hours go to silent profile, after work switch to normal sound?

Also there doesn't appear to be a way to use custom notification sounds on the desire hd :(

4: I'm not sure how to use Android, I find I keep opening programs and then go back to home screen and the programs continue to run in the background, surely this is using battery? Is there an app to switch between open apps?

I'm using advanced task killer to kill them off when not in use but switching between open apps would be useful

No doubt more questions and requests as I come across them

Btw the fast installer app for appbrain is fantastic
