Essential Android Apps

Just got the samsung galaxy I5700 yesterday and loving it, however does anyone know of any free android applications for locking the messages (SMS) and google and hotmail emails?

I have tried looking my self but all of them you have to pay for or there only free trials for like 7 days. I downloaded that chompSMS one which was great since I could lock the messages using the pattern lock but not emails, however the default messaging one was still there (can't find a way to remove it at all) so people can still see some (preview) of the messages .

Any help would be great, thanks.

After originally getting my HTC Magic as a stopgap until the SE Aino came out, it's forced it's way into my heart, helped in no small way by the following apps:

Flixter
Tubestatus
NewsRob (pay version)
Beebplayer
Eurogamer
Listen
Handcent SMS
PhoneMyPC (pay version)
PRemoteDroid
Wake-on-LAN
Soccer Livescores
Robodefense (pay version)
Gensoid (pay version)
Tasker (non-market app)
TasKiller (pay version)

I'd recommend all the above, every one of those apps gets regular use!

Yay, Runkeeper for Android is here!

http://runkeeper.com/android :D

Edit:

****** great, typical Android. Not everyone can get the application off the Market Place.

Apple stomps all over Android when it comes to applications, I'm actually starting to regret not getting a 3GS from my 3G and waiting for iPhone OS4.0.

This platform is supposed to be open, yet I can't get the official eBay application or this yet other users can?! Joke

I installed it at lunch time on my Desire looks like a great app!

XDA Forums are your friend ;)

Does anyone know where to getone of these now

Anyone got a decent messaging app/widget?

I just want a normal sent and recieved tabs :(

"Record It"

Sure, it's a couple of quid, but it's superb.

Lets you program your Sky+/SkyHD+ box, gives full program listings for the next 7 days, including descriptions and other showings. Even recommends programs you might like! Will let you set up Fave channels. Also lets you select the channels you see by the region you are in, or change the region to one you like.

Also lets yous set calendar reminders for shows.

All with a pretty slick (if basic) interface.

There is a free version I think, can't remember whats missing in the free version, but I know it was so good I actually bought it.

Oh and 1.5 compatible too and gets plenty of updates.

Different file manager I have been trying. It even lets you connect to any network shares you have running on your LAN and move files around or even stream music LOL.

Works bloody well and an alternative to Astro which I have used

A bit shameless as I'm going to be starting work there soon but Ocado have released an app for Android, lets you do your shopping on your phone, just having a play now
