Essential Android Apps

I switched to ADW EX a few days back and I've ditched the dock altogether - just got all my stuff on the 'hidden dock' quick swipe up and there they are :)

Makes my 3.5" screen feel HUGE lol

Are there any apps to show the status of the wireless? I've hidden the status bar so just need a small indicator, either an icon or text, that appears on the desktop when it's switched on and disappears when it's switched off. Thanks :)

Just use the Power control widget, it will be lit up when active and dim when not.

With the SwitchPro widget when its selected the icon will be highlighted, when its not active it will be invisible (well a tiny dot is there)

Surely Mplayer is better than both of those? I appreciate that those coming from a windows environment might not be so familiar with it

I think the one that comes with the SGS is excellent after trying loads of others.
It plays everything including MKV's.
It's just called Video Player but I can't find it on Appbrain (it must be a Samsung App).

Anyone know of any apps that'll tell me what apps are using up all my data?
The past month and a half ive used FAR more data than i usually do, and want to know why.

Any suggestions?

This is what I use:

http://www.appbrain.com/app/phoneusage/com.jupiterapps.phoneusage

It's free to use but you can unlock alerts for when you are approaching your limits for a small amount I think.

Once you've installed it you just click on the data tab and scroll to the bottom and it will show you a pie chart of the apps that are using the most data. Very useful and looks nice too I think.

im a vplayer man now, just prefer it, hardly really watch that much, will be more important when i get hold of a tablet/slate with honeycomb as one of my primary functions will be watching films at the gym ! (while on the cross trainer)

Install spare parts, then tap battery history, and change the drop down to network usage.

All the info is already in the phone, spare parts just helps you get at it.

3G Watchdog looks pretty good for keeping tabs on your data usage.
