+1, my Spica doesn't do the 'discharging' text - but I like that, I like how it pops up with 'CHARGING' in glowing red text accross the screen when I plug it in :)

Checking out that flash thingie now :) thanks mate

Incidentally, CM-alpha8.2.1? since when?

And yes, an AMOLED screen would be great wouldn't it!! I seriously need a desire!

Oh and khan, LOVE your sig - genuinely made me lol

No problem :)

I am not using it all and have never tried it out, so can't give any thoughts on it at all.

It's a different package to just the default CM 2.2, the one that I am using at the minute includes other mods and kernels etc. which improve speed, battery life etc.

Thanks for the link :)

CM 8.3 was released a few days ago, but there seems to be quite a few bugs with it at the minute that weren't there before, so going to hold off on trying it till the next version is released, plus happy with the way my spica is running at the minute and don't think I could do another full reinstall if something went wrong again, done about 10 factory resets throughout the last 2 weeks now, lol.

Also the one, which I am using at the minute is going to be getting an update sometime this weekend I think, which will include the latest kernels, mods etc. so will hold out for it, plus it should be good.

Just tried it. Pretty cool but they seem a little jerky to me :( will keep cube for a bit but I'll prob end up switching back to default.

HTC Desire

Which ROM are you using btw? I found some transitions a bit jerky but I think this is more down to the dependant coding in the launcherpro build of now and the rewrite we're soon due will completely eradicate any jerkiness!

That and the fact that Desire libs for GFX on Gingerbread have not been released yet :)

Haven't noticed any jerkiness with any of the transitions at all or anything to do with LPP tbph, all have been extremely smooth and fast for me. Only annoying thing though, which is to be expected until the re-write I think, is that the text gets a little distorted looking when you move to the next screen, but tbh I only notice it when I am holding the screen at the sort of angle that khaaan posted a screenshot of in "post your homescreens", don't notice it when I normally slide to the next screen, slowest speed for changing to another home screen is 5.

Before the Gingerbread update LP had no jerkiness but because we're missing GFX libraries some jerkiness will exist - Not long to wait though!

My slowest speed for homescreen scroll is 0, I like it because you can scroll as slow as you like or as fast - Cool for showing off transitions :p

True enough.

That's the thing though, when on earth is the nexus 1 getting the 2.3 update , as google said that the the nexus one owners would be getting the update very soon like a month ago and then a recent report is that apparently, there are quite a few problems with gingerbread on the nexus s that there trying to fix and so once there fixed the nexus 1 and other mobiles will then get the update, according to google, but I haven't seen one person reporting a problem with the nexus s at all, everyone has said that it is great etc.

Also what the hell about the galaxy S! It should have got the update by now unless the above is true, but chances are it probably won't since it's a Samsung mobile and it has got 1 update already so thats one more mobile they don't have to worry about

So hopefully the nexus 1 will get gingerbread very shortly as it will make it easier to port to other mobiles and it will help the developers to develop 2.3 for other mobiles that weren't lucky enough to receive an official update by the manufacturers due to "the mobile being too old or the hardware not supporting it" in other words, our customer support is xxxx, we don't care about providing a good service to our customers, we just want to sell our new mobiles with 2.3, get our money and then dump this after 2 months, rinse and repeat . That's aimed at Samsung and all other manufactures that are just as bad as they are.

Really wish google would sort the update procedure out for all android mobiles as tbh it really is xxxx that part, and IMO is ruining the android experience for people (except owners of the official google mobiles), I don't recall of one mobile getting more than 2 official android updates and some don't even get any more than 1 let alone even an update.

Plus when android updates do come out for the google phones, it will then take at least 4 months or more iirc from the 2.1 to 2.2 update for other mobiles to get the official update due to network providers bloating it with there crap and the manufactures adding there crap skins and even more bloat to it.

They must be able to do something, which would make updating easy and no need for the manufacturers to take there time and adjust everything, making it worst than just stock android or not even bothering at all to provide an update to the newest android OS. Speaking of that, I wish they would all just leave stock android the way it is and not have any likes of sense UI, touchwiz as there wouldn't be as much of an issue for upgrading android on the other mobiles, what google could do is take the best bits from sense like the camera, dialer (I don't like it compared to stock but a lot of people seem to like the sense one more) and any other things, which are better than stock android and incorporate it into stock android as the default instead or even better they could take that that stuff and make it even better than what it originally was. As for the home launcher and widgets etc. they can be replaced by 3rd party apps like LPP, pure ......... widgets etc. as there 10 times better than sense, stock, samsung etc. widgets and every thing else and always will be, plus most people on all the android forums replace everything on there mobile with 3rd party apps anyway especially the home launcher.

If only the nexus s was duel core, 1GB RAM, higher resolution, 1080P recording/playback, biometric fingerprint lock scanner, 1930 MaH battery, would have been the best mobile to buy :(

Thank god for rooting and flashing custom ROMs :D

Hmmm, good point about the screen transition speed, think I'll set mine to that now as well :p

Is there a music player app that i can just point at a folder and it plays the folder contents(rather than the standard one that tries to organize my files and they end up all over the place), needed for the x10 mini, cheers

I've not kept tabs on the Nexus S issues but I am sure it will be soon the N1 OTA comes out considering how far the 2.3 ROMs have gotten so far and the only real bugs being that Camcorder doesn't work and some GFX libs are missing!

I'm trying to decide upon a backup program before my next ROM upgrade.
Currently use Titanium Backup (free), SMS Backup & Restore, and then Kies/google for contacts.
Titanium Backup have a pro version which adds 0-click restore and more but I'm interested in MyBackup Pro as it does everything all in one go. Are there any opinions of this program? At £3.12 it's relatively pricey but looks well worth it

I'll give that a miss lol if I can't install it through recovery I can't be ****ed lol

No way I can be bothered with a factory reset after having it set up fine for this long lol

Thanks all the same though :)

Lol, yeah that's the same with me as well, hate using odin, but I wanted to have all of those extra mods and tweaks etc. without having to do them all separately and then facing issues with bootloops or something, so I had no other choice lol. Plus all the feedback seemed to be very good about the speed etc.

Also if your upgrading from the default CM 2.2, you don't really have to do a factory reset, I just wanted to do it, to be on the safe side and not have any errors or bugs. I prefer doing it when I change ROMs.

Although he did say that he would make a zip that could be applied in the recovery when he had some spare time, and his next version 3 will be a zip file that can be applied in recovery.

Yeah, I do hope so for the sake of android, as IF the nexus 1 doesn't get it for a while, I am sure that a lot of nexus 1 owners will be ****ed as that would have been 1 of the main reasons for getting the nexus 1 for most of the people who bought it probably, to get all the official android updates as soon as they are released pretty much, well I would be anyway.

We have an alpha version of gingerbread running on our spica, but there are still a few bugs and some hardware features not working, but the main problem, which is delaying the development at the minute is that we have the sleep bug, where once the screens locks itself, we can't wake the mobile up at all, so only way to get the screen back on again is to pull the battery and start up again :(

I wonder if you guys have come across an SMS app that has simple view instead of the default threaded view. Don't like threaded view for SMSs, please don't try to convince me how much better it is.

The only one I've been able to find was called SMS Tray Lite, and it does what I want but has a crippling bug: it won't read names off my Contacts, so text senders only get displayed as phone numbers... :/

Has anyone been able to get goggles to solve Suduko? Admittedly I've not actually read through any instructions, but I took a photo of a suduko grid through the program, it scanned away but didn't solve it.

Anyone had any success?

No problem with v1.3 solving here, for example this one with gridlines:

and without grid:

Also tried with a newspaper puzzle and that works too.

(Using a Desire Z if that makes any difference)
