Essential Android Apps

Probably not unless a USB splitter works but I doubt there would be enough power to manage both connections.

Damn! :(

Will have a look around and see if I can find any other people who have tried it out. This is where I miss having a SD card :(

Really need to get a better router for media streaming 1080P!

If your on ICS, there is a data usage chart built in that shows the usage for wifi and mobile data and what has been using the data connection, it shows time connected and amount downloaded by that app.

If you're not on ICS then IIRC 3G watchdog shows what each app has used data wise as well.

EDIT:

Just re-read your post and missed "predict" :p, not really afaik, but you can just test how much google nav uses one day and then use the method above and that will give you a rough idea.

Also IIRC you can download the route whilst on wifi and then when you go into your car and are no longer connected to wifi, it won't use any more data as the info. has already been downloaded but if you go off route then it will use data as it has to download new info.

I've got an app watching that already, but I can't use Google navigation in my country to find out what it will use! When I do go to UK+Europe later this year that is.

Ah right....

Well then not really :p

I can give it a quick test here and see and post results.

EDIT:

Just tried it and from Belfast to Paris to download the route it only used a couple of MB  I thought it would have been a fair bit more than that! :p

Also you can precache up to 10 areas IIRC. So 10 miles within each direction of certain places, means no need to dll any data at all, but I think this is only for maps and won't apply to the navigation as well.

I've saved a fair few strokes since the beta too, surprisingly.

You'll have to make sure ALL the route & side routes are precached otherwise you could end up with a nasty bill....

AND

If there isn't phone coverage along your route......

This is why I spent money on Co-Pilot

I've been trying the Sygic demo and have been pleasantly surprised...

I was using the ICS keyboard but I missed swiftkey's prediction so I am back on it now (swiftkey 3 beta) but I still prefer the layout and theme of the sense 4 and ICS keyboard :(

Really? Once Swiftkey is personalised I find it a lot faster as my video posted earlier showed.

Interesting, I shall try Swype again. There was a few use cases in which I got frustrated because I couldn't figure out how to do them fast enough, maybe I didn't give it enough time. It's also good to show to friends, doesn't hurt to have it as an extra keyboard.

I love Swype for the most part, but don't use it any more as they dropped carriage returns for ****ing smileys in messaging. Why the hell can't I use a carriage return?

Swiftkey until Swype has carriage returns!

Symbols board to get carriage returns yo! Although the new beta changed to always carriage return
