***Quick Share
Quick Share enables you to share the curent URL to a specific app immediately.
For example, if you set Read it Later app to Quick Share, you can share the URL to it by sliding thumb a little.

***Customizable quick controls.
- Selecting which side to show quick controls
- Auto adjust quick controls' size so that all controls are drawn inside the screen
- Extra quick controls : when you slide thumb in the upper/lower region of the screen, different layout quick controls are shown.

I don't think ICS browser+ had this one either, can't remember :/

***Volume key scroll

Amongst a few other things.

Should give it a try anyway and see what you think :).

Does anyone use GO SMS Pro still? Is it worth using still? Or has ICS brought better apps with it?

Hi

I had a question about Tasker, but before forking out the £3.99 price I wanted to check if what I wanted to achieve was possible…

When I plug my phone into either the 12 V or USB socket in my car, I want Wifi, GPS, data, and Bluetooth to be automatically turned ON, also “Car Home” app launched, and possibly some brightness settings changed too, then returned to the previous state when I finally unplug it. Is that possible? Another awesome step would be to allow the trackball to wake the phone and disable pattern lock when charging, but I’m less hopeful about this.

I pretty much only charge my phone in the car now, and I use it as a sat nav and media player through the Bluetooth, so it makes sense to configure it more appropriately to save me some time and make it safer whilst driving.

Cheers

Firstly, get it, you won't regret it :p

Secondly, all the technical stuff you mention can be done. Starting automatically can be configured but if you want it to do it only when plugged in in the car, i.e. not at your desk, you will need a car dock that it a 'true' car dock specially designed to tell the phone it is in a car.
If you are handy at soldering you can do this yourself by connecting a pin on the microUSB plug to ground. After 3 or 4 failed attempts with different cables I decided I wasn't good at soldering and settled for a button on the home page to trigger 'car mode'!

Random board lol... They instantly resigned :(

It looks like you can with the states + various settings - I'm only just getting started with it but certainly looks possible :) http://tasker.dinglisch.net/tour.html#states

I've used Tasker for quite a while now and all of that's possible. If you need any ideas or help just ask :)

Anyone??..im trying out winamp at the moment, not sure if i should splurge the £3 or so on the pro version though.

Only really gives you the Equaliser!! not really worth the £3 over the Free version!..

and the Wi-Fi transfer (for me) was a bit flakey!!.. I've just gone back to the standard Sony music player on my Xperia Arc (not S)

A couple of people have said that's all possible but I've got a feeling tasker can't turn GPS on/off in Android 2.3+. I'm not able to check now but perhaps someone else could for him?

If you're rooted you can. I've not used Tasker on anything other than a 2.3+ rooted device though :p

I think there's another app you install which gives the ability to do so.

Yes, I still use it. Was the first app I put onto my One X. I really like it but couldn't say whether there are any better apps out there now (it's the only sms app I've used for a couple of years).

Try Chomp SMS, I find it quick to use and just a bit better than Go.
All the updates to GO SMS just annoyed me
