Essential Android Apps

I've installed HTC_IME Mod which is a modified Keyboard of the stock HTC one which adds a smiley button, custom smileys, swipe left to delete last word, swipe right for voice to text, voice to text button (which works quite well too) and a wealth of other features.

Been mentioned before but I do recommend it!

Remember to aTrackDog the installed mod (and voice search) because there are updates too.

Using LauncherPro instead of Sense/Rosie now, really impressed with the speed of it compared to every other launcher out there. It's the only time I've ever been able to scroll through the app drawer completely smooth.

Looking forward to a port of Froyo to the Desire now to try it without sense for a bit.

aTrackDog annoys me as it doesn't say where the updated versions can be downloaded from if they're not on the market?

Instead of the crap android stock keyboard I have now got the HTC_IME keyboard on my I5700 with out rooting the mobile or anything like that :D .

The best keyboard ever. So many settings to do with the interface etc. Plus you can have 3 keyboard styles, QWERTY, compact QWERTY and phone keypad. Plus you have the voice to text feature as well etc. no lag at all, so much smoother than the android default keyboard :D.esolution for android 1.6 and up and it works great (My I5700 is on 2.1).

Theme that byotch!!!!

Mind if I ask about that calendar ? Not so much the widget but you have TV schedules added to it and, by the format, it appears as if its an auto thing i.e. you select the shows you like and it puts them in a calendar for you which synchs with the phone

I might be wrong tho and you did it manually ??

Ta

http://on-my.tv lets you track US (and some UK) TV shows, you can export the feed in iCal format and import it into your Google Calendar :)

There's no option to let it track UK air dates though I don't think.

Ok, but in the case of Voice to Search, it's telling me theres a 1.5.2 version but is not mentioning a developer website.

Googling isn't bringing up any results either.

Here's what mine says, you're right I never noticed voice search had a newer version!

I think the 1.5.2 version listed by aTrackDog is for other phone versions perhaps, because it's so large it's probably for non 2.1 handsets or something due to our phones already having the libraries and so on already. Certainly the one linked on Nimbu is the correct version for us (just add voice search to the exclude list in atrackdog) but you can install the latest HTC_IME which has some more features from the aTrackDog app directly from the dev's website but some have issues with it downloading the low res version.

I have it uploaded here though: http://robbiekhan.co.uk/root/android/Voice-to-text.apk
(enable it the usual way by enabling it then long pressing an input field to choose input method).

Indeed it is. The Mod version adds voice to text (works very well unless you have a weird accent!) and other custom mods like gestures and other stuff.

Hi, I'm still using a G1 and have just got a car charger and window attachment.

I usually use gmaps with gps to get about when driving unknown locations. Anyway to turn it into a proper gps with voice? Either using 3g or downloading maps?

Also, contract is up next month, suggestions on a replacement phone? Android os, preferably hardware keyboad but if the phone is good enough id give it up!
