Essential Android Apps

I actually thought you meant a 'free mp3' app too, hence why I said Google Music to purchase it..

For an mp3 player, use PowerAmp :p

Google music isn't a bad player either to be honest, I'd been using PowerAmp but had to switch to google music since I wanted to start using the streaming service.

Yeah, I use both to be honest.

Poweramp when I'm traveling, Google Music when I'm at work (or anywhere where there's wifi).

Why is it so difficult to find an Android browser that works?
  • Stock browser has frequent closes and the jumping cursor issue.
  • Dolphin without Jetpack is much like stock, and suffers from the same jumping cursor issues in forums (like here, for example).
  • Dolphin with Jetpack is buggy, with jumpy pinch-to-zoom and frequent crashes.
  • Dolphin as a whole doesn't open links in apps automatically (need to long press the address bar), and the Connect extension doesn't work for bookmark syncing after the initial sync.
  • Chrome/Chromium-based browsers (Opera, Next, etc) don't offer text reflow, and scrolling/performance overall is occasionally laggy.
  • Many of the other alternatives either have terrible UIs, or don't offer any type of syncing whatsoever (haven't tried UC Browser for this reason).
I could go on...

Does anybody have any recommendations? :)

Opera does have text reflow (although it has its fair share of problems i.e. sometimes the web page will render saying something went wrong), firefox beta also has text reflow too. Both are smooth overall (more so firefox beta), although the text reflow isn't quite as smooth as the likes of the sense browser.

What phone do you have?

Only problem I have every now and then from that list (sense browser) is the cursor jumping about.

Boat. The End. :)

I haven't tried Boat for a LONG time... I've been bouncing between stock and dolphin lately depending what I'm using it for - will give it another go and see how it does :) I used to like it on my i5700

Does anyone know of an app that will show me how much power is being used/drawn to charge the device, and how much is being used by the device in mA?

Perhaps I'm being thick, but I can't seem to see anywhere it tells me how much current is being used to charge?

I use Battery Monitor Widget

Set up the calibration (battery and charger info) and your done

Just in response to my post on the previous page, tried Boat and found its interface to be too unrefined and messy. Still find stock the best by far, I guess I will just need to stick with it really and live with the bug!

Definitely interested in trying those desktop notifications, they look great, though I'm willing to bet it won't work well due to the Nexus 4's Wi-Fi issues...
