DroidExplorer.

I think for some stuff in there though you need root.

Works fine however!

As for restoring, root allows you to backup apps AND app data so you don't need to reconfigure apps after a restore. Non rooted devices just backup the apps and not private apps either.

Titanium Backup is the only app that can backup /everything/ selectively and batch backup/restore as well as allow multiple backups for each item.
According to the products webpage, it doesnt support the thing im after, SMS/Call control through PC?

Seems a little strange, wonder if it something else you are running causing the slowdown, it's extremely quick for me on a lowly Galaxy Portal.

Have you tried fiddling with the memory settings? It could be that launcherpro is getting closed down due to memory or by a task killer.

Seems a fairly comprehensive app for the price.

I take it the idea is that i can backup all my stuff, redo the firmware, reset to factory, get a new android phone, etc; and it'll restore everything exactely how it was?

##EDIT##
Just downloaded it and tried it.
Seems quite good.
Cant decide wether to get rid and not bother though. All my importent stuff is on my SD card anyway, and im always cautious about restoring backups due to unforseen complications. Or maybe thats just a 'caution' ive carried over from Windows. lol.
Thoughts?

Titanium Backup is what I use. I flashed update yesterday, ran TB and it was as if I never touched the phone (save for the updated ROM) as EVERYTHING was back as it was including widgets etc.

i dont know what it is im going to try and sort it, cause im satisfied ive found widgets that are good enough substitues for the sense ui ones

Just having a quick scan, people using things like SMS apps, being 'the best SMS app out there', what's wrong with the SMS app that comes with the phone? Same for music player apps, etc, what are the stock ones like? Do they need changing to third party ones?

I only ask because as an iPhone user very likely switching to the Desire a lot of the things people are getting 3rd party apps for work out of the box on the iPhone, and I don't really want to spend a week configuring it.

Is it nessecary? Or just a case of liking to tinker?

Everyone raves over Handcent, but i dont find the standard app to be a problem tbh. Add to it 'SMS Popup' and its more than usable, and not a large change from my old iPhone.
Each to their own though. :).

Web Desktop

Allows you to do sms/file transfers through your browser.

Also thanks for the info on droid explorer, didn't realize it did all that!
Thats it!
Excellent app, just using it now. :D

Doesnt TB need root access?
