i disagree, they can **** up sync's and stop schedules running. My alarm clock for one! android handles fine on a good handset, older ones maybe.

There is no need for task killers at all, especially for higher end mobiles.

This isn't a windows OS :p

Android is based on linux, which handles memory much better and also programs in the background.

They do more harm than good, I had installed one on my samsung I5700 and then read the above article and uninstalled it and noticed much better performance from my mobile and also when I had a task killer installed I noticed that I didn't receive emails as often, had to sometimes do a manual refresh in order to receive them. I made sure that they were excluded along with my alarm clock, so they wouldn't be killed.

My phone does slow down with out using a taskkiller, i use Autokiller which adjusts the build in android 'taskkiller' so has no negative side effects.

to say it has no negative side effects is a bold statement, if you read the above link and many others u will see its not how google intent android to work, i just reboot my phone every few days.

I don't care how google intended it to work i use it based on my expience of my phone slowing up when not using a taskkiller. And no i don't get any negative effects because i use a program which alters the parameters of the INBUILT android taskkiller so it doe'snt cause any negative side effects, people who have problems use third party taskkillers which shut down the wrong programs and processes which then causes problems.

can i ask what phone do you have?

i use one to kill off apps that shouldnt be running all the damn time. i use jogtracker 2-3 times a week but don't need it running on the phone 24/7, whether idle or not
