Essential Android Apps

Installation basically involves side loading and flashing one file. Not really used the app properly but seems fairly easy to use/maintain. Just need to figure out the line between being too anal/detrimental to the app.

What's also quite handy is when you install a new app or an app updates, XPrivacy gives a notification prompting you to check it's permissions.

It was bound to happen but... someone made a copy of iOS 7's control center: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.easyandroid.hi.controls

I gave it a quick go and it works pretty nicely, but there's better toggles for Android out there already. This is great for anyone wanting to theme their phone like an iPhone though.

If anyone has a spare 10 minutes, you should check out the XPrivacy module for Xposed (root required).

It lets you revoke permissions on a per app basis.

You can list apps by the permissions they use -

Here I've filtered by apps requesting location access

And here I'm viewing an individual app's permissions (the ticked permissions are the ones it uses, the ones with the check boxes marked are the permissions I've revoked).

I use LBE from Xda forum. Does this let you do Global permission edit.

Gents

Nova (I think) seems to be auto hiding my tops battery, times, notification bar?

How do I turn that off, even though I don't recall actually turning it on :D

Thanks

I've installed Ivona and the Uk voice pack. Gone into the language and set Text to speech to Ivona.

What else do I need to do for Google Nav to use the voice? Mine has still got the grumpy google man voice.

I used Google Nav on a trip yesterday morning to pick up a colleague. It used IVONA Amy on the way down, I then redid the directions to get us to work... and Google's dude started speaking instead.

Completely random, but it didn't bother me too much (IVONA is far better, but I could still understand Gloomy Dave).

Galaxy S3 with the leaked 4.2.2 Omega ROM.
