Essential Android Apps

The only one I am aware of is where the download speed drops down to very low level after an hour or so on wifi- for me this was caused by some settings in the 3g settings and tweaking these resolved it for me. Not aware of any other issues tbh

Just going to post a few apps here (that may or may not have been talked about already lol)

Just downloaded last night : iRemote (free) - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kep.remote.free&hl=en

It's a free app that allows you to control your itunes via your phone, when you turn it on it connect to your itunes, then you have to enter a 4 digit code into itunes to fully pair them and your all set, you can skip tracks, increase/decrease volume, view playlists etc, found it to be a very useful app - used it last night, turned off monitor and kept pc on, lay down and listened to some music, pretty handy app - they paid version removes the add (which doesnt seem to bother me) and gives to access to the app via widget.

AirDroid - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sand.airdroid&hl=en - Been using this app here and their for a while now and it allows you to wirelessly connect to your android phone via pc (well web browser), you start AirDroid on your phone, go to the website and enter your code and your set to go, you can then copy and move files from your phone to pc or vise versa (this is what I use it for lol) , since I first downloaded it though they have made some changes, the one that I noticed the most is that they have limited how much data you can transfer each month and offer a premium version which bumps this to 1gb, however I've personally never gone over the limit as I only use it here and their for the odd file etc

RC Bluetooth - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.truetel.svc.asus&hl=en - I'l guess that this particular app may be more well known on the forums as its from ASUS, and for those that have the compatible motherboard to use, the app lets you monitor and tweak your system on the fly, it shows you temperatures, voltages (which you can alter if you wish) and a few other nifty stats, one of functions of the app I personally enjoy is the ability to remotely restart and shutdown your pc - so for example - last night when I was using iRemote to listen to music in bed, when I was finished with I tunes I could have loaded up the RC Bluetooth app on the phone (which I had) and powered down the pc - handy :) - one gripe atm however, the cpu multiplier display is constantly showing 0, so even though it has all the rest of the settings displayed there appears to be a bug atm with my system (because in the beginning it would display and I have since uninsulated and reinstalled the app on my phone with no change)

So those are 3 apps I personally enjoy and want to share with people, can be very handy apps

Does indeed!!! Looks very good!! :)

What Nexus 4 Wi-Fi issues???

Works fine on my S4. There is a delay of 8 sec from when the notification arrive son your phone to PC but that is documented by the dev and not an issue.

The nexus 4 suffers from wifi notification delays. Mine did and many others. I know some that didn't either so its hit and miss.

No such issues on my S4 though ;)

Another excellent remote us Unified Remote. It has the ability to control media players, access the start menu, switch the computer on and off, and use as a mouse and keyboard. I use it every morning to switch the PC on from my bed, so it's one and ready when i get down to it.

They limit the data transferred? Why? It's not going through their servers.
I use airdroid from time to time, but some of my transfers are a lot bigger than that so I'll probably abandon it.

What I have been using for a while is SyncMe Wireless. That allows you to set up one or more SMB shares on your computer, which gets synced with a folder on your android. It can be synced one way or both ways, and the sync can be run manually or on a schedule.

I use this to transfer the occasional big files like movies, and also a separate share to keep my music synced.

Airdroid 2 introduced non-lan mode. Pretty sure there isn't a data cap when you're on the lan.

Whats the best office app?

I.e. Wanting to edit a spreadsheet on to go I have on gdrive and a few other documents, just that top rated one on business section?

I use Smart Office 2 as I got it when it was on sale for 10p I think it was :)

I think it's great... but I've not used any other options so there could be better out there just waiting for me to find it!
