EURO 2012: Players to be booked if they leave the pitch due to racism

Come off it... "abuse" ??

Drivel.

If you genuinely believe those comments i'm seriously worried and saddened for you:(

I have to agree I would back and encourage any team/manager to call his players off if they heard racist chants. Make it a problem for UEFA/FIFA how those 2 can still be in power beggars belief but thats for another thread:)

I'm gunning for stupid myself.

So you think that we should just accept people abusing others because of the colour of their skin. Its OK because some people are just racist and hate black people.

When people have unjustifiable prejudices, its not that hard for them to turn those into violence. Young children watching the game will be told "we are giving him abuse because he is black" which obviously is a great thing for a developing mind.

Its nothing to do with us though. Its their country which they should be left to run and behave in as they see fit.

If we don't like it we don't have to go..

Im not condoning the behaviour, but at the same time its not as bad as some of the silly left wing socialists would have you believe.

Its simple. Leaving the field of play without the permission of an official is a bookable offence. These players need to MTFU, they're professionals and shouldn't be affected by name-calling. However, if it was bad enough, as in being tageted with missiles, then yes, a game should be stopped.

All this talk of potential racism as the Euros is getting on my extremely white moobs.

WOW, how many ill-educated, un-diverse and silly little people are harboring in the depths?

Theres a difference between telling someone they are rubbish and telling someone they are a monkey. One is racism, one is an opinion.

Opinions are allowed, racism is not.

Of course the players should walk off the pitch, every single one of them. If they want to be racist then they dont get a game, simple as.

And all this **** talking about protecting the players from violence only. Racism attacks their personal and mental welfare so get a grip and go back to college.

UEFA fined City more for singing "your not incredible" to Hulk when we played Porto than Porto did for making monkey noises at Balotelli.

It is completely ridiculous and for every new campaign they do they simply don't enforce it. They should be supporting players/teams walking off as it sends a message to the world that it is just not right.

I still don't get how grown men can find this a problem?

Why are they so emotionally fragile?

Bananas on the pitch might be a little extreme, but a bit of monkey chanting never really hurt anyone.

By creating such a stupidly big fuss, you are playing directly into the hands of the people who are behaving like this.

Children were always taught to ignore bullies, and it works. Just carry on and play the games, and they will soon get bored.

By getting all uppitty and moral on the matter, well, its just as pathetic as the nazis too you know.

People are just using this as an excuse to get all hysterical about anti racism as usual.

Its nonsense.

My solution is the ref acting on it and stopping the game, or failing that, both teams walking off, not just one player.

If fans see that why they are doing stops the match, they will soon learn to not do it. You can also take harsh action against sections of fans caught doing it, instead of the usual warning and a let off.

Whats your solution?

Cry and whine like a baby, throw a tantrum and walk off the pitch and let them win?

Nice one, well played, well thought out.

*claps*

Erm.... if everyone walks of the pitch, the racists lose out because they dont get a game and get slated for it.

Yeh, well thought out mate.

Guys....

Thats exactly what they want!!! (the hardcore ones at least)

They want to cause as much disruption as possible, you are playing into their hands directly.

My comment was slightly tongue in cheek to be fair but saying that general verbal abuse can be cast off as an opinion is ridiculous. Abuse is abuse. However, I've said that racism can't be ignored, but players simply can't take matters into their own hands either. Any racists should be removed and harshly dealt with but any game should continue unless the referee decides otherwise.

Ok, so we let them get away with it and just imagine it never happened. It cant be tolerated. End of!

Verbal abuse is another thing completely, I didnt mention verbal abuse.

Technically, anything that could be considered to alarm, harass or distress any reasonable person is considered public order, or in this case abuse. Saying a player is rubbish, when they are would not cause that reasonable person to be alarmed. Called them the biggest pile of **** ever, however, would.

In essence, this whole discussion is worrying for the tournament. I just want a happy and exciting tournament. And for England to at least win 3 games!

Yes, I absolutely think they should just get on with it. You can keep your roll eyes :)

As much as I disagree, I also agree. I've been to Arsenal matches where slanging matches have taking place between supporters due to difference in accent, team support (obviously) and location where they live. That definitely also qualify as grossly personal attacks in my opinion. Just ignore it and get on with it. You'll NEVER EVER change the hearts and minds of racists. Ignore it or stay home.
