Euro Truck Simulator 2 worthy of purchase

1000 miles of driving on the demo? I have just finished my 8 trip and I'm now level 5 and have done about 16000 miles as I have been to France, Belgium, Holland, Liverpool and my base is in London, it might just be a lottery as to when it asks you for the key but I am loving this, I haven't even got my controls set up properly or the radio working, I can't wait to see the crazy mods that come out.....

I think the demo must be borked. If I finish a mission and push esc for the menu it tells me my demo time has run out, however all I have to do is quickly alt-f4 then start it back up and I can do another mission lol.

I'm not going to buy it though because I know for a fact I'll be bored of it after a few more days.

A few things I don't like about the game though:
  • No proper slip roads, cars end up waiting to get onto the road.
  • You get done for amber light, just recently I was going about 30 and I was side by side as it turned amber, so no way could I have stopped but it must have turned red before my trailer passed so I got done for red light.
  • Cars pull out on you. I was going straight over a roundabout only to get speared by another lorry
  • Traffic is SLOW. 70mph on the motorway and yet if I get up to 60mph I seem to be overtaking everything!

I have never had it ask me except from the beginning, I will be buying it just because I have loved the DEMO so much and through guilt as even though I will get bored of this in the end, I have still played about 30 hours and they deserve my dosh.

Bravo

I got asked for the key at level 4, I just quit out and restarted and playing again. Although I would not feel bad about using another version as I have paid the rainforest for retail :) Which is meant to arrive Monday.

I sometimes get the receipt sound but do not see what for on the GPS thingy...?

Only problem I have had so far.....

I can't wait for the "Things we would like to see in Euro Truck Simulator 3" thread!!

I got to level 4, just got a truck and was enjoying the free life being your own boss and bang! demo expired!

Deffo going to buy, but not putting short-cut on the desktop!

Try loading the game again, you might find it will work for another mission. I've found I can do at least 1 mission in between it telling me it's a demo.

Hit level 4, demo expired. Tried loading the game 3-4 times and it's adamant about needing a key :( I think if i were to get it i'd need a better gfx card though, stuttering even with most settings on low/med (ati 4850 :p)

Got to love trucking through Cumbria on a summers day!

Haven't had chance to play the demo too much but couldn't see the limits on it, what are they?

Also; I've got the resolution correct in the settings (1920x1080) but images such as inside the truck/wheel apear "squashed" as if the ratio is wrong, any ideas? Just a FOV thing to view better?

Theres an advanced menu, click on it and there is a scaling option, which i believe is set to 125%, revert to 100% and it should be good.

And the limits seem to be a hard level cap of lvl 4, which ive hit, also some routes are not active from what i found, apart from that its the full game for 4 levels, which actually isnt that bad, a good few hours of play before being forced to buy it to continue, which is worth it if you like this sort of thing.

Had a play through the demo earlier, Got Kiss working on the radio.

Not bad for what it is, But it needs real maps for me. Newcastle is nothing like actual Newcastle, I know it's a tall order but it's a sim and I'd love to drive actual roads I know. The motorway system is a bit gimped also. Worth an hour or two but I think I'd get bored with more than that.

Yeah gave it afew restarts and it wasn't having it, and the system it was installed on is back and never to be returned!

Mine stuttered when i got near the ferry ports, everything was maxed and it was running on a 7970m and i7 which should have handled it..

Just apparently driven from Glasgow to London, not too bad, i really like the AI, if you edge the truck out slightly with your indicators on they usually flash to let you go, shame when your on the motorway and want to merge/change lane they ignore you totally, silly.

My other gripes, my hired driver seems to be losing money, not sure how as there isnt a detailed reason as to why, and the mirrors on the trucks are too dark, cant see the lights of cars in the dark till they are next to the cab almost.

Mine makes me €65 a day, I'm not too sure if that includes petrol or not. If not then he's making me no money at all lol. Nevermind. I'm making at least €8000 each 10 minute drive. I'm not sure when I'll get bored but I'mm pretty sure it'll be soon because I think I've seen everything the game has to offer. All on the demo too :D
