Euro Truck Simulator 2 worthy of purchase

Driving a truck was great fun in GTA! But I think that was as much about running police roadblocks, mowing down peds and jumping out of the cab off a bridge into the sea while the feds snipe at you from helicopters.

Without that extra excitement, I'm just not sure that trucking is for me :p

Been playing this since yesterday, very calming and strangely satisfying. :p

Only level 3 with about 15k to my name.
What's the best strategy towards getting my own truck/company.
Keep doing quick jobs in supplied trucks, or get a loan, so I can buy my own?

Taking the 80k loan for your own truck is fine and if you level up long distance you'll be doing jobs 20k a run up to 50k in no time although they're 1500km+ however I would refrain from the 320k loan ON TOP of the 80k if you have one bad crash you'll be in trouble, get the 80k, pay it back, then consider the 320k loan. Upgrading your garage costs 144k and another lorry is around 80k.

If you could? :D

@Above I'd just keep doing jobs, perhaps try as many different trucks as you can, I'd recommend like an Iveco or a DAF for a first truck...
If you crash a lot get a MAN they are built like tanks and don't take much damage, scanias have massive fuel tanks, and Volvo are the most powerful, Mercedes are fragile but nimble and Iveco and dad I haven't used.

Yup, I drive a MAN as it has a pretty decent fuel tank do ok for the engines and don't cost a arm and a leg :)

What's a good 1st truck?
So far I've only unlocked the Scania garage in Manchester.

I really feel like I should get this, although seeing the reviews on YouTube hasn't made me want it any more :(

Is it better than it looks? In other words, is there more to it than chugging along at 56mph and stopping on your marks.

Got this on the sale and loving it, what a surprise.

Bought a Volvo as my first truck and seems great.

Only question I have (simple one) is can I change the currency displayed? Its in euros at the moment

I take it I need to keep doing jobs to upgrade the garage and employ more drivers then?

You can change the currency in the options and yes you need to do jobs to earn money to upgrade your garage or buy a new one in a different country and then buy trucks for the drivers you hire.

Can I ask how this game handles long distance drives? I'm guessing they don't expect you to sit at your computer for 20 hours to complete a 1500km trip?
