Euro Truck Simulator 2 worthy of purchase

Rolled my truck twice during one job last night, damn low trailer full of sand, jack knifed under braking round a corner.

I rolled a trailer full of ammo at 60mph last night. I was worried it would explode or something! Sometimes having the speed limiter off is a bad thing. Mostly it's a good thing though. Just have to be more careful of the cameras. I tend to set my cruise to 70mph and chug along at that. I was stuck driving on back roads all last night though and always hit traffic just as I built up a bit of speed.

So back to mods, is that just play mod a different thing to the one linked?

Could someone explain the basics of gearing to me? I'm told you have a low and high for each ratio, and in the few videos I've seen people usually shift up through the odd gears when driving normally, but I'm totally clueless. I know practically nothing about trucks, just thought I'd give the demo a spin. :o

Cheers in advance!

Try auto gears if your new, get used to the handling and watch how it auto shifts

but the general rule is to shift in the green bit, top of the green for acceleration or bottom of the green for steady climbing in speed

The JustPlay mod requires the TSM map, but the mod adds to the immersion - adds loads of trailers, but more subtle things like walking pedestrians, sprinting rabbits, parked cars on kerbside, tuned truck engines and truck mods.

Thanks, that sounds awesome. Will I lose my game save or can I just install on top?

I decided to take the 400k bank loan and upgrade my garage. Now I have 3 slots and I hired a driver, Jordan. The bank loans are only 6k a week so its easy to pay off. I paid of the first 100k loan with the bigger one anyway. I have now got two Aveco trucks both in red as that is my Company colour. Loving this game and cant wait to explore all the map. :-)

Isn't it £6k a day? Maybe I'm wrong about that. I sorta regret my £320k loan. I wish I had levelled up a bit first, but saying that my driver is getting better now and earning a few grand a day.

Is it worth upgrading your other trucks in the fleet, or just your own?

Maybe it is 5k a day.. I never checked.. oh well lol. I did a bit of roaming and found a Volvo dealership and got me a new truck. Its loads faster and doesn't struggle much going uphill with a big load on.

I took the ferry to Calais and had a mooch around there. Found the Mann dealership too.

Purchased a garage in London and also one in Calais. Juts need to do some more jobs and get money to buy some more cabs and drivers.

Yeah having a slow truck is a real pain. I put a 420hp engine in my scania and Iveco, which has made life bearable. Really want more powaaaaa though! Come on xp grind! :p

Game is too easy :( money starting to really flow in for me now, and only been playing 3 days 1 fully upgraded garage, with all slots filled, and bought another garage in italy, with 3 slots filled, just about to buy another garage in Barcelona.

Ha ha I had exactly the same problem. The initial Scania was painfully slow (360bhp iirc) and would grind to a halt driving up sliproads when hauling anything over 7t!

Took a loan out, hired a new driver and figured I'd spend the rest on a new truck for myself. Bought the Volvo and upgraded the engine to 600bhp - much nippier now, can actually hit the limiter without having to go downhill :D

I just bought myself the 700hp volvo. Gof it up to 95 and crashed it. 98% damage an hour away from my destination. Gutted. That road down from mt blanc is a death trap!

The speeding fines are really doing my nut in atm :p Is there anyway to get around this? I got fined last night for doing 42mph on a flamin motorway!

I gave the demo a try and its not grabbed me. I wish I could do Sheffield to Manchester as quick as this game. I was hoping they had got the farm in the middle of the M62 but even that was missing.

In the end I got bored and started ramming cars off the road with my trailer and for some reason I only racked up 2% damage. Thought it would be more.

Just not feeling it.

Think I had to start a new profile, but the mod gives you 2 million to start with, so easy to get going.

Yeah, I've got something like 15 fully loaded garages now - each garage has one make/model of truck, so if I fancy a change from my DAF, it's easy. Can't spend it quick enough tbh.
