Euro Truck Simulator 2 worthy of purchase

Been playing since release, but not tried the MP aspect.

As I've got a heavily modded offline profile, but not used the steam client (have added license to steam), I guess I can use the steam version to play MP.

Are there AI cars at least driving around?

As far as I know it only works with a steam version and you will have to disable all the mods. There is no AI atm, but I think it is something they are working on. I don't really mind that there is no AI really as wherever you go there always seems to be plenty of trucks around

Anyone care to help me out?
Got ETS2 from HumbleBundle Store and now when I try to launch it, it gives me an error saying
"The game filesystem failed to initiliaze, aborting now"

I've tried reinstalling it as well as verify game cache.
Would really like to start playing as it seems really fun!

Try running steam as administrator??

I have also seen a few problemss when people have MSI Afterburner running so if you do try turning it off.

How do I generate a game log?
The message just pops up and after clicking ok, it just disappears.

I don't even have the folder where these said logs should be

Bahahaha :D

Sorted it.

Only have my SSD plugged in atm and my folders were located on my HDDs (documents/music/movies/desktop/etc)

After reading the 4th comment on that thread, it made me realise why I didnt have log files...

Set the location of "My Documents" to my SSD and the game just launched itself :D

Now I feel stoooopid :o

Had a go on multiplayer earlier and it has potential except for the idiots who ram you on purpose, idiots parking in the road etc.

The same for Race 07 by Simbin, I hope it won't be the case with ETS, however with Race 07 no measures put in place by Steam/Simbin, so a great racing online game spoiled by **** who get their kicks by acting as general idiots.

Online with ETS would be intriguing, the temptation of a juggernaut Grand Prix... ;)

Had a go on MP late in the evening - didn't see many muppets at all thankfully.

UK roads were quite quiet compared to mainland Europe - drivers on opposing carriageways giving a friendly toot or flash, with the odd convoy as well.
Those that stop on the roads did use hazard lights.

I guess what time of day you play determines the maturity of the player base.

Felt in the minority driving my DAF - a lot of Volvo's and Scania's - guess they prefer horsepower over road anticipation.

Tried the multiplayer yesterday, didnt get the point of it, one guy was just racing around, then some idiotic convoy that came off a side road without stopping whilst I was driving and had to hard brake to stop, they still swiped me so I barged into them and got them stuck, was amusing!

What mods do you guys use nowadays for single player?

What mods do you guys use nowadays for single player?

Hadn't played in quite a while, so when I launched SP, some of my 1.5.x/1.6.x mods caused it to crash. So re-downloaded a few:
JazzyCat's trailers, painted trucks, and buses.
ProMods Scandanaivian map
Improved Weather
True Lights
Smaller moon
Better petrol stations (something like that)
DAF Paccar sounds
UK radio stn's
Some mobile phone replacement and a few others.

Played MP last night, and joined a growing UK convoy (10+ trucks) which totally adds to the immersion. There were a few hiccups mainly down to individual players ISP causing a bit of lag and subsequent nudge - if you hold back a bit you can anticipate = no drama's. Convoy's grow on-route as other people join and leave - quite cool when everyone stops to re-fuel as well.
