Euro Truck Simulator 2 worthy of purchase

God help me, I just picked this up yesterday to see what it's all about and I think I like it :D :o

The only thing that's bugging me is mapping the gearshift to the paddles on my Fanatec CSR. I just don't see an option for it and I know nada about all the different types of gear options on trucks.
Everything else works fine. Look left/right works with the little stick for example.

Am I stuck with a simple automatic box, or should I happy that I don't have to bugger about with gears?
Fwiw, I did have a browse/search on the official forums and couldn't find anything.

Other than that, it's a strangely good, entertaining game and parking a trailer is a bloody nightmare :D Much respect to the guys that do this for a living.

Setting it to sequential was the first thing I tried :( There don't seem to be any button mapping options for up/down gearshifts unless I'm being blind.

Will check out promods, cheers.

I got this a while back in the steam summer sale.

Put 50 hours into it and find it strangely addictive. Havn't done any of the mods yet but no doubt I will further down the line.

Its just so.....relaxing

yeah lol parking is horrible with the adr loads in that really tight place where the gate is a stone arch, hate that bit.

apart from that it's very relaxing

It is nice at the weekend when you may have had a tad to much to drink to play some online FPS. Sit back with a wheel, beer your fav music playing and relax playing. Love this game. What is it like using key/mouse or a pad?

I've gotta get my money and trucks etc back and running, HDD died and didn't back up. Still trying to eliminate the judder or most of it on the DK2 but getting nowhere. You get far on the seasonal event? for the gifts?

I play it with keyboard and mouse as I don't have the money or space for a wheel and pedal setup. Took me a few goes at parking trailers but now it's really easy. Used to do it top down view for parking but now I find it easier to just go for the "head out of the window" view and can usually manage it first or second go.

Just got my first couple of drivers and a bigger garage although they're not earning me too much cash. I spent most of my time in the game doing hire driver jobs and building up a load of cash before getting my own truck.

daft question, is it just driving or does it have the ability to work as say a route planner for a company? So telling trucks where to go, planning the routes/loads?

Yes it has a "route advisor" which tells you where to go and where other things such as petrol stations etc are
