Euro Truck Simulator 2 worthy of purchase

I used a keyboard for a fair old time, it was the sudden steering from tapping that caused all my accidents. I don't suck at driving I swear..

New update installed, shall test it in a bit.

I always use my mouse to steer, very smooth..;)

I have the new Scandinavia dlc, looks good, having problems with some mods though, some won't load. So gone vanilla for a while.

I'm sure this is a simple question - I've downloaded an extra truck as a mod and have installed and enabled it.

How do I actually use it?

Go to a dealership and buy the truck? If it's not a standard brand you'll have to check the mod details to find out which manufacturer they added it to.

Yep, as above go to the dealership, if its Scania it will be at their dealers, and so on.

I had a Scania mod truck, went to the dealers and it wasn't there. I think either the new update 1.17 or the dlc is messing with some mods.:(

Very very fun. Takes a while to set up the sensitivities etc on the profiler and in game, but the sense of control etc is unreal. yeah mines packed away too atm.

It's great with the G27. I bought one off the MM here for iRacing and was pleasantly surprised at how much it added to ETS2 when I tried it.

Some shiny new lighting engine shots, one of the massive Denmark/Sweden bridge and the obligatory Merc pulling a livestock trailer...

I do like how the weather and lighting is now dynamic. The old sun up at 4am, sunset at 10pm with the same pre-baked sequence got a bit tired after a while.

Is that merc a mod or have they actually got them in game now (vanilla). I know they were expected in 1.18 ?

Also I can't use wheels or pedals unfortunately. But I'm a dap hand with the mouse & tartarus. I don't need to touch the keyboard much. :)
Tartarus is my gear changer, plus wipers, lights, CC etc.

If you're on Steam, the 1.18 update is now in open beta so you can get the Merc. ;)

It's the official Merc from the 1.18 beta on steam. Livestock trailer got added with 1.17, not sure if it made it into the standard game as I've got the DLC. They've tidied the models up for a lot of the other trucks as well according to the change log.

Easier said than done! Bear in mind that I'm brand new to the game and have completed just half a dozen deliveries so far.

I chose the 'Majestic' design when I created my profile, I've downloaded a Scania. When I go to the map, no dealerships are listed so I can't go to any. Do I have to find them all individually first before I can do any more?

You need to unlock a single Scania dealer by visiting it. The one I recall off the top of my head is the Manchester, UK one as it was my starting town. Once you own 5 trucks then you can "online" configure trucks from any dealer you've unlocked on the map.

Or ... you could always start another profile using Scania to check the mod. ;)

Thankfully Majestic is going the way of the dodo with the next patch. When the game originally came out only Scania, MAN and Renault had previously licensed the brands out. The rest wouldn't talk to SCS as they were only a tiny company so they knocked up scarcely disguised copies like Majestic and Valiant. One by one they've all seen the benefits and signed up, Mercedes were the last hold out.

Yep, hopped into the beta to have a look at the merc.

The Scandinavian dlc is also very nice, more building models and everything looks like its had a mini facelift since 1.17.
Its a good game overall, one title I sort of come and go from, but nice when you come back to it after a break.

Done that, thanks. I'm seeing content there but not really sure if it's the mod or not! I've not taken out a bank loan to buy a truck yet but I'm thinking that perhaps I should. The Volvos I've driven so far seem quite good and decently powerful.

The Volvo's are a good starter truck, The "classic" FH16 starts out at 540hp which would just about be affordable with the €100k loan IIRC. I found it very tedious trying to pull anything over about 8t with a 340hp Scania, and you had to level up significantly to open up the sensibly powered engines.

You'll likely not see the mod in the one-off jobs list.

Which mod is it?

To be honest it always seemed a bit of a bug that the Volvo was so much more powerful at the lower levels. Early versions of the game had the "Valiant" starting at 600hp, they added the 540hp later.
