Got my tickets again, till someone wins I'm stuck buying 5 lines, can't stop in case they come up and it's costing too much!! >.< If I win I'm commissioning a life size chocolate Hayden Pannetierre!

Well maybe thats because he would only win £500, which isnt going to change your life unless you are 10 years old.
Everyone knows the chances of winning are very slim, but it's still worth putting a couple of quid on every now and then.
Well no he'd win £550 (coz he'd get his stake back) but that's beside the point. And whilst I agree with your 'couple' of quid comment, the poster I was replaying to is going to stake £50 on it.
It's about chance/payout ratio, if the bookies are spot on then he could expect to win 1 out of 10 races in my example and he'd win 10 times his stake.
For the Euro Millions, He'd have to stake £232m before he could expect to have the winning ticket in which he'd 'only' get back £125m.
So given the odds of winning versus possible payout at the bookies is much higher, it's common sense that's where you should be betting your money. Buying a lottery ticket is still gambling, it's still a bet but for some reason people start buying into the "it could be me" rubbish that they'd never do with any other type of wager.
If you're not interested in making a profit, and will only bet if the top prize is millions of pounds then you are still far, far better off doing an accumulator than playing the lottery.
You want £100m for a £2 stake? OK then, go and stick an accumulator bet on for 7 horses at 10 to 1 and another at 5 to 1. That's still 'just a couple of quid' for a 'life changing' amount of money only your chances of winning that bet are 50 million to 1 which is over twice the chance of winning the Euro Millions at 116 million to 1.
