European Football Leagues 2012-13 [Spain/France/Italy/Germany/other]

Sociedad 2-0 up at Vallecano, looking good for getting back to a 4 point lead on Malaga, who won last night with a very late Baptista goal(always liked the Beast, and will always remember his performance against Liverpool :p ).

Think they must have the best unbeaten run in La Liga, probably amongst the best in top leagues in Europe, exceptional run for a tiny club with little money who stretched their budget to buy a £4mil Vela.

Most important, they are just great to watch, I'm adopting Sociedad as my Spanish club, largely after getting bored to tears with Barca, their cheating(despite being so damn good, that winds me up badly), and how often they refuse to play more direct, exciting football for HUGE spells of games. Sociedad have been one of if not the most entertaining teams in Europe this year.

i think its more vella playing for them that has got your support:p

Thats why I checked how they were doing and made the effort to catch a couple of games. No doubt Vela has been brilliant for them, but they've got 5-6 really excellent players, really energetic, great build up play, very attacking, just very exciting to watch.

4 points clear in 4th still, ridiculously good run in the league, but getting Europe might not be great for a fairly recently promoted team. Like Newcastle, small squad and not much money + an extra bunch of games can turn a team around completely.

Barca look so useless without Messi, who isnt starting tonights game against Levante.

Saying that Villa had his penalty saved in the first half, they are dominating possession but not showing much in the way of goals being scored.

No doubt like the game against PSG the other week, soon as Messi comes on...if he does then Barca will score a goal or 2.

Was never a penalty anyway, Iniesta went down over the guys foot off the pitch. Also Barca have looked like that in quite a few games with Messi playing this year, its how they played during their "dodgy" spell, which for them was a few draws, one loss and still mostly wins :p

My word, Malaga are absolutely falling apart, completely, utterly destroyed, 4 goals in 5 minutes, terrible defending, a penalty to make it 3, basically no defence, laughable almost now.

Valencia could, with the way Malaga are playing, lose this by 10+, they are utterly utterly awful at the moment.

Feel a bit bad for them, probably feel a bit like the season is over after that stupidly harsh Dortmund loss, they deserved over 180 minutes to lose, but its a very harsh way to get knocked out. If they don't remember how to play football soon this could get incredibly embarrassing.

The Madrid derby has got to be the most one sided derby in the world, doesn't matter who does or doesn't play for Real they always win

Messi's goal

Was a beauty but as usual dropping points, Barca have been, from what i have seen the past few weeks atrociously bad. If it wasnt for Messi this season, they wouldnt be anywhere close to challenging for the title. Luckily for them, Real let them get a huge head start this season.

Looks like Barca will have to really strengthen their defense this summer, they just look really weak when teams are attacking them.

Sociedad's second was a freaking awesome counter attack, first was a pretty damn good corner kick routine, fantastic finish left foot volley from a CB. Vela's been good tonight but not at his best, but there hasn't been a poor Real Sociedad performance on the pitch from anyone.

The second goal was just ridiculous, speed, a header and couple of tight passes to break through then a good ball in behind and a smart finish.

2-1 currently, Valencia do look capable but Sociedad have been the better team overall, if it stays as is they have a 5 point lead on Malaga and Valencia. THey were just saying Real's budget is 10 times as big as Sociedad's and Athletico's budget is 6 times that of Sociedad, not sure about Valencia, somewhere inbetween but must be significantly closer to Athletico than Sociedad, its like Wigan getting 4th over Arsenal budget wise. But this isn't Stoke, playing **** football and getting lucky, they play some awesome passing football.

Been a great game to watch, Sociedad keeper should have got a yellow, maybe even a red for a handball outside the box, and Valencia should certainly have conceded a penalty and second yellow for the left back, who got insanely lucky not to get sent off, early yellow and could have gotten another for several different fouls.

3-1..... got to be game over. Sociedad are epic this year.

EDIT:- jesus, 3-2, then an epic finish in the 93rd, under pressure, chips the keeper, it was Vela style just not from Vela, fantastic finish, well deserved, great performance from Agi*****(no idea how to spell it).

Quite a lot of articles around about Vela, Sociedad, Griezman, Agirretxe, Inigo, and almost all of the others. That article hits the nail on the head though, they are a mix of the best parts of Barca and Real, and just a joy to watch. Real have for two years gone through games winning by a small or bigger margin, but being utterly horrible to watch with some dire dire football. Barca are getting ever more boring, Sociedad are a team that can pass as slickly as anyone in the world, but also counter attack like Real, at break neck speed, but often involving more players and more good passing rather than a simple knock it long for one guy to run in behind.

They are just ridiculously fun to watch because they play varied, interesting, attacking football. Go to Barca or Real and sit with 10 behind the ball, **** off, go there and scare the bejesus out of both teams with all out attack that is both effective and insanely good to watch, hell yeah.

I'm sure if you google around you can find some highlights which show the goals, they just score great goals, have great counter attacks, and do some fantastic passing.

Vela was their best player, he got a slight knock and hasn't been as good, hasn't scored in a while and only a couple assists, lately Griezman and Agirretxe have been better, but only just, they are all just fantastic to watch.

40mil euro budget vs Real's 500mil euro budget, and they had them on the brink, they did beat Barca, they scored 6 goals against Real and Barca in two games, they scored 9 against Valencia, only team to take points(or the first at least) at Athletico in like a year, because they went there and attacked. Easily the best team to watch in Spain right now, easily, by a mile, the fact that they are an underdog, ridiculous budget and the rest just make them so much more loveable.

The only slight issue is, euro football, small, infact TINY squad + no money, the extra games can often badly hurt a team in the league. I really hope they get it though and don't dive down the table next year.

Agree.

I think they've been really, really fun to watch the past 20 or so games and have had a storming season.

In other news, Inter Milan looking unlikely to be playing any European football next season .

Inter Milan is a badly run club, Sice Mourinho left they went down hill so much. Sold all their best players hired bad managers and bought badly.

I wouldn't say badly run.

Italian teams have been forced to sell players with higher wages because of the financial fair play rule, as they don't earn anything near what English/Spanish/German teams earn (their stadium is rented, not their own, t-shirt deals are much cheaper due to a huge problem of fake goods, TV money is lower etc.).

Teams like Milan managed to replace Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva well, along with a good few players from their youths (De Siglio). Inter didn't manage this. Their replacements have been pretty bad, but not because Moratti bought bad players, but because they could never perform to their potential.

Also, tbh, they have a lot of players injured. I think they have around 13 players injured atm, and they have had 50 different injuries this season.
