European Grand Prix 2010, Valencia Street Circuit - Race 9/19

Now, from the 2008 race threads I realise that you have form for ignoring my posts that praise Hamilton, so I fully expect you to gloss over this as well. But for the record, once more - I like Hamilton fine, I just wish he'd stop doing silly things.
I rarely come in these thread's and when i do im not going to read them from the start.

It's not Hamilton's fault that Schumacher decided to leave it till Hamilton was practically up his arse before he decided to slow down to make some room for himself, whilst Hamilton was on a flying lap i might add.

If anyone was a **** it was Schumacher.

Yeah. That's right NightSt@lk3r. I'm a 'hater'. Never said a good word about Hamilton in my life.

Nope.

Not at all.

Never.

Not once.

Not everything is a personal attack you know. People seem to get terribly sensitive about F1 around here :)

Love the picture btw. I so want one of those suits!

Just read on Autosport that Mclaren don't have any updates for this race  But Silverstone is where some large updates come.

FP3 starts in 30 mins :)

yeah massive upgrade for silverstone, including rbr exhaust. which some reckon is worth upto 0.5 seconds. We will see if it is any where near that with Ferrari using it this weekend.

Don't ever believe any team (and that includes the back markers), when they say their current car is carrying no new upgrades. McLaren have shown that every single race they attend, they bring new parts.

Also, I've noticed that whenever a team boasts of a major upgrade, it never seems to deliver. The best examples of this were when Mercedes brought their HUGE upgrade and actually went backwards, in relation to RBR (Spain) and then when RBR brought their HUGE upgrade (to Turkey) at which point McLaren managed to close them down.

What I will say is that all the major teams bring new bits and pieces to every race track. And the MAJOR upgrades are very much untested, which means a major upgrade in the factory/simulator, could turn out to be a major disaster on the track, which is abandoned for the race. We have seen this happen especially with the F-Duct, which other teams have copied and had poor results.

f-duct is different though as you can't change the chassis, so teams are having to retro fit it, in very odd and reduced capacities. where rbr exhausts and the like should be fairly straight forward.

Also big updates may require a change in car set up, which is why they might struggle at teh first race with lack of real data.

mclaren tend to deliver, when they bring a bit upgrade it normaly works.

they proved last season they are the best at developing.

This will be a good test for Mclaren imho they have no rear blower or any updates to talk of.
If they can stay in the top 4 in this race(which I think they will) then come Silverstone they should be awesome.

I say
1-Hamilton
2-Button
3-Alonso or Webber.

EDIT= For the race..not quali

This would make sense, which is the reason why I no longer take it seriously, when a team states that they have a big update coming. With no testing, a big update can turn out to be a major disaster.

In general, from what I've seen, all the performance gains/losses for all teams have been incremental, with no sudden jumps.

McLaren, over the last 18 months have shown that they are able to develop the car, consistently, without testing.

However, I do not recall any team (including McLaren), making any sudden jumps forward. All the performance gains (including McLaren), have been incremental.

A lot of people believe that Siliverstone will see McLaren take a jump forward. I highly doubt this. Big updates rarely work due to the lack of testing and understanding the car, with the new updates, takes time - something which cannot be done in 48 hours.

Computer simulations are no substitute for actual track testing...which is now banned.
