European Grand Prix 2010, Valencia Street Circuit - Race 9/19

In the post qualifying press conference Webber sounded like he had lost a tooth.

The race should be pretty interesting tomorrow, even if the action will be limited to the first lap and pit stops.

I'd expect Hamilton to be fighting with both the Red Bulls and Alonso, Button to be fighting with Kubica and Massa, and the Mercedes and Force India cars to move up the field whilst Williams falls back.

Something about Vettel that's very annoying, kind of a smuggy arrogantness about him.

Agreed...he's the Christiano Ronaldo of the F1 world.

There is no doubting the RBR is the fastest car out there by a good margin, but there isn't any need to be such a smug idiot about it all.

Going to be a boring race, hopefully there will at least be an interesting start and maybe some mistakes or pit stop overtakes.

just glad hamilton is up there he is pretty much the only guy on form enough at the moment to give the red bulls a challenge at this track, but even that is a long shot, still its good to see mclaren up there without the big blown diffuser upgrades of ferrari and renault.

Not sure what happened to Button but that was about where I expected both them to be, so Hamilton did a very good job. Surprised at least one of the Ferrari's didn't get ahead of the Red Bull's as they looked quick in practice.

Going to be a boring race tomorrow unless we get some rain or there are some accidents.

It's all the worst things about a street track, with none of the good things. It's basically Monaco but with bags of run off areas, simple corners, and none of the heritage. Hideous scenery too.

Please Bernie, drop valencia from the calendar. You can't be that desperate for somewhere to park your yacht that you would want to have this grand prix over other excellent circuits.

I'd love for Alonso to bin it on the first lap - just to watch how much the stands empty. :D

Surprised by Hamiltons lap. Even more surprised by the Williams cars. Brilliant showing for them today.

I quite like the look of Valencia. Cars racing around imposing, featureless concrete without a spectator in sight...has a sort of industrial post-apocalyptic feel to it. Dull as ditchwater, but you can't have everything.
Actually I think we could be in for a good race tomorrow. The two RBRs are very close, the cars following them are perhaps better over a race distance, there's lots of dust, tough on brakes...we could get some action.

tbh webber was only really a solid driver throughout his career with nothing special going on imo.

which to me means vettel isnt exactly the big thing hes hyped up to be just flattered by a very quick car.

imo hamilton , alonso , massa , rosberg or button would get much more out of such a fast package

In fairness and without wanting to talk football too much Ronaldo has every right to be smug with his trophies and awards in the last 5 years. Vettel aint done diddly yet.

Hopefully Hamilton can get the jump on webber tomorrow, but barring another RBR failure i'm not sure he can do any better than 2nd.

With regards to Schumacher he spent 10 years years at Ferrari and they literally built the car around him, for him and to suit his driving style. It is not the same now for him although yet get the impression that development is going that way.

If memory serves me well, in his very first season with Ferrari, MS was mighty impresive and achieved more than any driver had in previous seasons. He finished 3rd behind the all-conquering Williams.

As expected, MS is rounding all members of the team to fight for his cause. The problem is that he isn't really delivering on track. By now, the MS of old, would've been outperforming his team-mate in every session/race, however, in 2010, this just isnt happening.

It's hard to get a measure of Rosberg. At Williams he was always great in the practise sessions, but when it counted, Rosberg was never great. So, the jury is out on him.

Based on the above, its difficult to tell if it is MS who is poor, or Rosberg (who is regularly outperforming MS), who is top class.
