just seen on the bbc website that real/atletico madrid are getting transfer bans, think this is for the same thing barca got into trouble for ?

Spanish giants Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid have been banned from registering players for the next two transfer windows.

They have been punished by world governing body Fifa for breaching rules over the transfer of minors.

The ban does not cover the current transfer window, which runs until the end of this month.

Atletico were fined 900,000 Swiss francs (£622,000), while Real were told to pay 360,000 (£249,000).
 
I'm sure there is a way they can delay this until after the summer so that they can sign everyone they want before it takes effect. Hasn't exactly affected Barca badly.

I assume that if you were a vital player this would allow you to hold the club to ransom to some extent if your contract is up for renewal any time soon.
 
They might, it all depends how much they really want him and whether his contract has any clauses that would stop us from just saying **** off. It could either be a blessing or a curse for us really.
 
It's very different to the barca ban. Their ban came at a point where their appeal allowed them the summer window to buy players. Real and athletico won't be able to drag it out for nearly 8 months.
