** European League Thread (Spain/Germany/France etc) **

Messi failed to show up in a big game, so I guess he's past it now and Ronaldo has taken a magic anti ageing pill as he was crucial to the victory, scored the winning goal and iirc would have had an assist for the wrongly disallowed Bale goal, also hit the top of the crossbar with a very good shot.

Fairly easy chance to make it 3-1 right before the whistle, ruined by a hilariously bad pass from Pepe.

Ramos did was Ramos does, how he's still with Real I don't know and how he has as few red cards as he does I don't know.

He has got 20 throughout his professional career tbf...oh he doesn't mess about like.

Yeah, 20 for him is pretty much what he could have gotten in a single season, that is the real issue. Pepe gets closer to actual assault on the pitch than Ramos but isn't part of the Spanish team playing in a Spanish team and is so ridiculously obvious with the crap he does that he doesn't do the crazy things all that often. Ramos, almost every game I've seen him play he'll throw a intentional and nasty elbow in at an offensive freekick, or jump into a tackle, find a way to land from a header in a way that stamps on his opponent.

With 'fair' refereeing he'd be getting 4-5 a year minimum, some seasons he was completely out of control and well he would have deserved 10+ in some seasons but wouldn't have actually gotten them. In reality if he got the ones he deserved he wouldn't have been playing in the other games to get more as he'd be in the stands unable to play.

Real's biggest issue is he's gone from actually decent defender who gets away with murder, to pretty awful defender who still gets away with murder but the few reds he gets they realise they don't even miss him.

It's almost incomprehensible how a team wanting to win the treble every year has Pepe and Ramos as the long term partnership. They aren't remotely close to as good as the best CBs in europe and they are probably the two most likely to get a red CBs in europe on top of that. Varane is excellent but to be a top team they need to sell Pepe, Ramos, Kroos(rubbish again last night), Benzema and Danilo.

Carvajal is an odd one, he has games where he is quite brilliant at right back, but games where he has Ramos/Pepe style reckless fouling going on. If Pepe/Ramos were removed from the team and he trained with a manager and CBs who didn't encourage that behaviour he can probably turn out good.

Zlatan became the first striker to score 30 goals in the top 5 European leagues this season. And he's 34. (Granted I know it's just Ligue 1) but impressive none the less. It was one hell of a free kick too.

Hattrick for Hatem. 16 in the league. Some truly wonderful goals in there, too. Hope Nice get CL football and he stays there for another season. They play some great stuff.
