See the AUDI A6 has popped up today, Sportback and Avant flavour on PPE. Has the same fat metal waist most BEVs trying to be saloons have, ie i4 etc. Nose very Korean looking in my view and also a RWD Audi on the A6 rather than S6.

Almost looks like a Posh OG Ioniq.

looks nice enough imo, however not a huge fan of the front grille. If i needed a new large car I would consider one once its 3 years old or so and in my price bracket .... (once the inevitable 1st owner company car person gets rid of it)

nothing really stands out about it however looks wise imo, but then i generally feel that about most Audis

502l is bigger than both A3 and A4. But I tend to think these litre values are often misleading, my ID3 has a smaller boot (385l) than the Skoda Kamiq (400l) that it replaced but it's got a much more usable and useful boot because what it most loses is the space under the removal floor. Getting luggage, shopping, crates of beers, etc. into the ID3 is easier. I suspect it's a similar thing here, the batteries extend under the boot meaning that it can be as tall, but is probably just as wide and deep if not more.

A 3 series touring is 500l, so definitely comparable. Just disappointing as for a family car I don't think the A6 avant is going to be a very good option

I think the litre volume does account for height under the cover but doesn't give you a good picture of whether shape is usefully square or not

Image 17 of the Sportback here tells me that its a very usable 500L - https://www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-news/first-official-pictures/audi/a6-e-tron/

Looks at least as usable as my Leon which has an extra 80 odd litres on paper.

The point I was trying to make is that the 502L capacity doesn't necessarily tell you the whole story.

Boot space looks quite disappointing at first – both the Sportback and Avant offer 502 litres. That’s 18 litres less than you get in the BMW 5 Series and only 77 litres more than you get in the Tesla Model 3 which, let’s not forget, belongs to the class below.

However, Audi only measures the A6’s boot capacity up to the level of the parcel shelf – and we can confirm there’s more space in both cars than that figure would lead you to believe.

Also to keep with my fairly pointless comparison to my c-segment estate... The A6 e tron probably allows for the rear passengers having actual usable length legs. Something my Leon doesn't :p

definitely going to need a bigger garage, Rayners planning for that, maybe europe has space though.

more is less - they're raving about the class leading cd (even if they don't disclose the drag) the tear-drop shape gets improved by a foot at the back; CLA tourer has a nice shape/cd too, but impractical versus 3er.

modern cosmetics of having bigger wheels too, needing bigger arches and overhangs, despite ev gubbins taking up less space under the bonnet.

Main problem with the leaf is the chademo charging - it's basically obsolete (in the UK at least), which means finding a compatible rapid charger is going to get more difficult as time goes on.

Not a problem if you never need to public charge, but may impact future value (as you're already seeing from the low price!)

You can get a chademo to CCS adapter now, expensive but it’s there if you want it.

PS. I’d want to be spending less than 13k for a 2023 leaf given you can get a brand new 2024 pre-reg for £16k.

I drove passed Avonmouth docks today - the car parks were awash with a strange mixture of blue and orange next to the infinite white vans.

At a guess, it’s a LOT of MG4’s…
