Might be wiser to use their eyes occasionally in a job like that. Relying solely on sound in a noisy yard seems a bit daft.

You misunderstand.
They were saying that despite being in the middle of something, like reversing the FLT that people being dumb do dumb things like driving behind it.
Where as with ICE they get some warning, with EV its far harder.

They have now fenced it off so you cannot get into the areas where they operate the FLT etc.

Also the yard isn't noisy its in a semi rural location. Its just that EVs at very low speed basically make no noise.

You misunderstand it's a daft as a brush to be relying on sound only. People going behind ice cars or vehicles has happened since they were invented.

What they've done is fenced off an area that should always been fenced off.

You just jumped to conclusions and now your trying to double down. They do look, have you tried reversing an FLT thats loaded (so you need to check its not moving) when some dummy doesn't follow instructions.

There WAS a customer parking point marked out, it was very clear. This was in a position that meant there was room for everyone and they knew it was there of course.
Idiots were not using it and parking in places they shouldn't, like directly in the way of the main doors to the covered area.

Same, i've used them in loads of cars and never had an issue beyond the initial getting to work out specifically how that system expected terms which can vary slightly. My other half did has issues though as she doesn't vary the volume of her voice well in noisy environments.
So she was fine when not moving or moving slowly but at speed she would at times get it to do silly things as she was in effect too quiet at speed.

One of the best things about moving away from ICE is noise pollution.

People have been conditioned to think noise = better due to the technology being used. Said this many times before, experience living next to a main road and both the noise and smell are horrid, why add a version of pollution back.

Im no anti EV person but having driven an i5 I did miss the noise, I actually like the sound of a v8 although my current car isnt the best incarnation of it. 4 pots I can understand, I certainly wont miss the sound of them but 6, 8, 10, 12 cyclinders can sound amazing.

I play a game usually with my wife and in-laws but the best one was with my neighbours.
I'd just had the car and they leaned over the front wall spouting every EV myth going with me explaining them away.
Then came the "but you can't hear them" quote and I asked "How many ICE vehicles have passed behind you while you've been talking to me?".
The answer was 'none' so I got my phone out and ran my CCTV back where 8 ICE vehicles were within 6 foot of them.
I do it on car parks or walking down streets with the wife if her back is facing the cars and I'll ask how many vehicles have just passed and she'll say none or may say one if it's a lorry or similar.

True, but many modern engines are strangled with emissions tech which is why they fake the engine sound.

Some amazing sounding engines out there. I guess just buy a V12 for dropping the kids to school.

Again, ITS NOT NOISY ITS A SEMI RURAL place.
In fact its very much the opposite of noisy, the only real sound is the noise from the nearby A road thats probably 300M or so away.

Well they did have some. They had two customer parking spots in the middle of the yard, clearly marked and signposted.

Problem is they are moving 25kg or so sacks of logs, peat etc around so they want the cars to be at least semi nearby.
Which they did have a parking area for.

I mean I agree if it was me I would probably have it laid out differently. Which in reality they are now doing, and now its a ballache as what was an easy to navigate area is now really tight.

No one else there but I had to do a like 5 point turn the other day simply to turn around.

touchscreen isn’t some alien technology that’s brand new to EV only. You hardly need to use the screen anyway when driving. Nav you can do before setting off and the heating will be on normal controls in most cars anyway.

You are looking for something hard to find and limiting car choices on a none issue.

I wouldn't say so personally.
It was less risky than walking around a supermarket carpark for example.

Anyway its "fixed" now with like 80% of the area you could use now inaccessible and even the main yard now out of access.
(I used to go over the weighbridge and spin around on the main yard which most people wouldn't go near. Which I suspect everyone started doing once they closed off the main customer area at the front so your not allowed there either now)

IMO its now 10x more risky as the area is small and they are still carrying things and putting them in your boot, just with very limited space.
God knows what happens if more than one person turns up now.

I suspect the next thing will be that they will trolley up your order in their safe area and you as the customer will now need to do the loading after pushing a heavy trolley across the cars and people can mix area of the premises.
