Main road isn’t sub 12mph for pedestrian safety.

It is the new face-lift model.
Ordered in July. Had other wait for face-lift to arrive, picked it up yesterday (Sunday)
321 bhp, it's modern and cool inside.

It’s high frequency so you can’t hear it in the car. If you had driven one you would know that plus they only sound below 18mph or so.
Don’t know why the quotation marks, many sound developed with the blind dog association to mean they function as intended.
Have you thought about asking Santa for a clue this year?

My wifes Corsa is getting a bit long in the tooth so she'd like to replace it with a similarly sized EV.
She's not fussed on make etc, only has two MUSTS.
1. Range circa 200 miles
2. Buttons/switches/stalks. She detests touchscreens & menus
Looking for something in the upto 3 year / 30k mile age, any tips on makes/models would be appreciated.
My wife tried 8 cars and ended up with the MG4.
She uses the touchscreen to turn the heated seats and steering wheel heater on. Also the radio.

Good to see the Masher test survives still, reality being the opposite to whatever he posts.
Went to pickup some logs the other day and the guys had messed with the yard. I asked why and they said that the EVs can come in and being silent can end up parking behind them whilst they are working. So they have had to restrict where they go.
I have certainly seem people in car parks nearly run over as they don't look and assume if a car is coming there is noise enough to hear it.
I'd suggest she test drives something(s), rather than totally dismissing them before even trying it, if the aircon or similar is on a touch screen. If she is a fiddler that can't stop chopping and changing it might be an issue but hopefully the basic fundamental driver controls and appliances, indicators and wipers etc. will all be on stalks for her still.
Also do you still have a rotary dial telephone? Just asking.
Touch screens are the most stupid interface for cars.
Your phone analogy is apt these a reason using a phone in a car attracts a fine and penalties points.
It makes no sense to put all the common controls on essentially a giant mobile phone.
Some of the sounds are a bit weird but I believe they are optimised for determining the direction they are coming from. A bit like those weird wooshing sounds that some police car sirens use in between the traditional "two-tone" type siren.
I assume my PHEV does the same thing but I've never noticed it.
As for physical controls... Put me in the neanderthal camp because I'd take them every day of the week for basic controls such as HVAC, demisters, lights, wipers etc.

Might be wiser to use their eyes occasionally in a job like that. Relying solely on sound in a noisy yard seems a bit daft.

So the whole house has been under renovation, our bathroom is the last room to finish. The exterior wall of the bathroom, which backs on to the driveway, has been built out with 2x3 stud to square it up and allow pipe runs and shower valve to be fitted without chasing being required, but within that same false wall I had planned to put a cable through to the driveway for a clean rear entry install of a 7.4kw charger.
I wouldn't be able to install a 3 phase/22kw charger in the same manner as the mains cable in to the property is only single phase, 3 phase remains in the outhouse and is used solely for an air source heat pump.
Purple blob - 3 phase cable in to outhouse (each phase on a 60a fuse, would need to change the house one to a 100a and upgrade the tails to go 7.4kw charger option safely (or just make sure I'm not using the hob at the same time as charging as that pulls the same 7.4kw- go figure why a load application is required for a 7.4kw charger, but not the hob))
Orange line - single phase from submain to the house (would I be able to put the CT clamp on this, or would it have to be the tail within the outhouse? That would add complexities!)
Yellow line - proposed 3 phase - would bury the cable down the side alley and build a tower specifically to mount the charger to.
I suppose I always have the option to install the 7.4kw as per my original plan then install a 22kw charger if ever required - would just need to tidy up the exterior wall where the 7.4kw had been - not sure how easy this would be as house has been wrapped with external wall insulation and been silicone rendered.

Never driven a first gen Zoe to be honest. So no. I’m not nuts.
I imagine road noise is pretty similar to another B segment car, ie a Clio.
