Yep, Nissan are serious trouble and the that merger may save them. VAG are big trouble and so all of the Stellantis group. Hardly anyone can compete with the Chinese manufacturers specifically on cost.

One of the best things about moving away from ICE is noise pollution.
People have been conditioned to think noise = better due to the technology being used. Said this many times before, experience living next to a main road and both the noise and smell are horrid, why add a version of pollution back.

In my city they have almost moved all the busses to electric and the city centre has been car free for awhile. There is definitely a noticeable smell and change to the air quality what is great.
I my luxury things, less noise is better.Glad you agree, your like it to be quiet next to your luxury accommodation.
Exactly my point. Noise does not = better.
Many years ago I had a land rover Series III, the exhaust got a hole in it and noise certainly wasn't better

My wifes Corsa is getting a bit long in the tooth so she'd like to replace it with a similarly sized EV.
She's not fussed on make etc, only has two MUSTS.
1. Range circa 200 miles
2. Buttons/switches/stalks. She detests touchscreens & menus
Looking for something in the upto 3 year / 30k mile age, any tips on makes/models would be appreciated.

Second hand MG4 are insane value at the moment, just picked up a long range for 45% of new list price that was less than 1 year old.
You can’t get away from touchscreen is most EV’s but there are switches to turn on de-mist and heated window and volume.
Yes it’s not perfect and nowhere near as polished as my model 3 but for the price it beat any ice car I could get for the mony.

Less than £20k would be good, I'll have a look at the Kona
Nero is the other obvious choice.
For £20k there are so many options, you can even get 2022 ID.4’s and Polestar 2’s with higher miles for £20k.
2023 Megane E-tech anyone? That should get 200 miles in all but the coldest winter days.

Good luck, the infotainment in modern cars is going touch across the board, it’s not an EV thing.
The Hyundai and Kia offerings are probably a good shout but they still have touch screens for many functions.
I'd suggest she test drives something(s), rather than totally dismissing them before even trying it, if the aircon or similar is on a touch screen. If she is a fiddler that can't stop chopping and changing it might be an issue but hopefully the basic fundamental driver controls and appliances, indicators and wipers etc. will all be on stalks for her still.
Also do you still have a rotary dial telephone? Just asking.
Definitely look at the Kona. My wife had an ID3 for 3.5 years and we loved it. When she changed she went an tried a used Kona from the local Hyundai garage and bought that. the car is very compact but has a good interior with lots of buttons. Well recommended for a small second car, or a good car for a couple I would imagine.
Not much quieter. They still make the same amount of tyre noise and many emmit a stupid tone at low speed for "pedestrian safety", which is often louder than a small engine.
