EV general discussion

if the time comes when you are all driving hydrogen ICE cars I will be on my 2 headed unicorn which farts rainbows ;)

I would go on record and say there is more chance of your unicorn than hydrogen ICE.
I mean there is a use case and possibility for hydrogen fuel cell cars, but ICE versions there is no way I see that becoming a mainstream thing.

I'm sure there's some sort of niche circumstances where you'd want the handbrake on with the car not in park but for 99% of the time in normal usage you may as well forget the handbrake button is even there, you'll not need to touch it routinely

You can download it from here if you didn't get a hard copy.

I downloaded last night and still doesn't make sense.
I'm on the MPG4 forums now and it still isn't making much sense :)

I know what you mean I still can't find the fog light or reset the bloody trip meter lol
funnily enough it bit me on the ass as well today. I need to check what the tyre pressure is in my cars display but after 10 mins faffing I gave up. I will have to look it up later. (I know what the pressure should be I am not THAT bad but since getting 4 new shoes on the car the tyre pressure warning never game on despite me checking them today and then all being 32/33psi (,should be 37) and no warning

my wife's car was even worse her front were down to mid 20s and no warning so I think the tyre fitting place may not have configured something properly

Ignore the handbrake button for normal driving / usage.

If you're stopped for just a few moments, like at the traffic lights, just use the footbrake.

When you stop for a while, wife popping in the shop or whatever, put it in Park and it'll put the handbrake on for you. It'll turn it off for you as you come out of Park.

Don't overthink it.

I don't think I've ever touched the handbrake button in our car with the same sort of setup.

^^ this, almost always you need to pay to park in 2025 and pretty much all EV 'perks' like this are long dead.
Blame those who phantom charged to avoid paying for parking for that one.

TBH I don't really see why there needs to be an exception from the parking charge, the car is parked after all.

Read the sign in the car park
It might not say specifically.

I'm in North Wales, quite a few chargers locally appear to be on council car parks. Id have preferred to travel a bit further home and stop at a services with charging facilities but the ones with this are a bit too far away.

The one I'm eyeing up is only 22kw so I'll need to leave the car charging for several hours before making the trip home.

Any idea why the price is showing in euros here?

I see what you are saying but at the same time you are potentially only there to charge your car and don't otherwise need to park. you would not expect to pay when filling up with petrol over and above the fuel price.
absolutely it is a read the sign and see but imo really the parking fee should be rolled into the charging cost imo

For parking assume you have to pay if ‘normal’ bays require payment unless clear signage states otherwise.

MG4 parking brake wise, it automatically applies when the car is put into ‘P’. You will hear the mechanism engage from within the car.

Father has a Jensen interceptor that he rebuilt, I saw that there is a trend of making classic cars 'electric' . Lo and behold, and electric powered Jensen in all its glory on the YouTube's.

Electric classic car just finished one.

That's the video I saw!
Amazing work!
Remember taking it for a wash, and the carwash jetting into the engine bay and flooding the engine bay, thing stalled on me in the middle of Trafalgar square. ( Talking 15 years ago)
