EV general discussion

e: ok they made a hommage A red fillet frames the roof, gold for the blue model, a tribute to the Clio Williams. It is already planned

What's people's thoughts on the Ford Mustang Mach-E ? I quite like the look of them.
It’s fine, it just depends on the price VS its direct competitors e.g. Ionic 5, EV6, model Y, Enyak, ID.4, Scienic etc.

Then also the cars which sit slightly above like the GV60, Polestar 2, EX/XC40 etc. which might have a deal going.

Take a test drive, shop around.

After getting messed around since ordering our Q8 Etron back in August last year which was cancelled when production was halted and the factory closed in December we now have a delivery date of 20th for our Q6 Etron. Yet to see another one on the roads anywhere, thought they'd have started to pop up by now.

Nice, maybe I'll drive it one day second hand in 4 years ;) Everything is pretty pricey with that car though, I had a look and for a set for decent all season tyres it's over £1000! I think I've seen 1 maybe 2 SQ6 around Solihull area, where there are a lot of EVs I would say. Pretty big car, but I guess parking is easy with all the cameras and tech inside.

Just want to check I'm not missing anything - so with the correct EV tariff, can you really charge for 7-8p/Kw overnight at home? That could save me a small fortune doing 20k a year.

I mean I am not sure what you are driving now, but a 40MPG average, at £1.35L is £3,068, and doing 20k miles with the majority at 7ppkWh and 3.5mpkWh is exactly £400, so you'd save a little bit, and unless you plan on doing lots of public charging you' never get close to the petrol costs.
If most of the miles are done from home charging you'd also save a huge amount of time going to the re-fuelling station per year, even if you just took the pump time and not the getting there or dwell time due to queues, paying etc. if you stood there pumping fuel non stop for the 2273 litres you need (from the previous example) at the typical 35 litres per minute rate, you'd spend 65 mins, so more like 2.5-3 hours in total.

Picked up a Renault Megane E-Tech on Saturday.

So far so good, It feels a treat to drive compared to my work provided truck which is a cereal box tier/spec Izuzu D Max :o

I will do a more in depth write up over time but so far really pleased with it :)

I had a good deal through the nhs lease company that my trust uses. Apparently they had 800 q8’s on order which were all hooked at the same time so I guess Audi cut a deal. We were offered the car (q6 sline quattro with tech pack upgrade) on a 3 year lease with 18000 miles per year, insurance, servicing, tyres, road tax and a charger installed for a reduction of 450 from my net pay. Couldn’t turn that down.

Megane was one of my fav current EV's.....until the local parking wardens got issued with them by Dudley council (who are skint) to increase revenue. Absolute ****'s :p

Great looking car and gets well written up.
