P.S. We have fuel duty and vehicle excise duty. You can't really tax EV fuel and vehicle excise duty is literally peanuts in terms of the costs of car ownership.
Per the section of my post you quoted, any replacement for fuel duty will is highly likely to apply to ICE vehicles on top of fuel duty - see the green agenda, someone has to pay for it and the incentives need to stay to push it.
Someone always has to mention that... Surely by now we can believe that people know that it's not a true tax, but that the name just sticks.There is no such thing as road tax, just saying.
If you mean vehicle excise duty then a £150 annual tax isn't an incentive to buy an EV. It's literally the smallest running cost you could pick for all motor vehicles. Any additional taxation will almost certainly apply to ICE vehicles as well to artificially keep up the incentive to buy an EV.

How you expect government maintaining the roads with out road tax?
It messed up and just take it as I quoted all of it.
Why do you think that ? Are you a policy maker. The reality is fossil fuels are much cheaper than green electricity and the government would losing billions if everyone moved to the move expensive ‘tax free’ fuel.
It’s easy to tax any car on mileage. The mot is electronic and shares mileage every year. Most cars can give live Milage when interogated.
Out of general taxation and council tax like they have been doing for decades before 2018
They don’t though, it’s why morons keep throwing the road tax reason why drivers should have priority on the roads over cyclists

We don't pay road tax. Only the motorways and major trunk roads (e.g. the A1 and A14) are paid for by central government and it comes from general taxation. The vast majority of roads are paid for through council tax and maintained by the council or their contractors.
I've lost count the amount of times this has been explained in this sub forum.
No, I'm not a policy maker but its clear that is what will have to happen to maintain the incentive to go electric.
I totally get that the base price of electric is a lot lower than petrol or diesel (lets ignore the subsidies that are given to both industries for the purpose of this post). But that's exactly why any additional taxation will need to apply to both electric and ICE, they need to maintain the advantage of electric or people are not going to give up their ICE cars. They need nearly all ICE cars off the road by 2050 to have any chance of meeting the net zero climate goals.
That's why I say its clear, its because they simply need to make them so unaffordable to use, people get rid of them.

Good news I've found out from someone else who's used the scheme that it's most definitely salary sacrifice and not some weird deduction from net like the person in payrolls I spoke to was trying to tell me it was.
Suppose I should check those Taycan prices again.

Yeh my company offer £600 per month car allowance, a company car through Lex on which you pay PUC and BIK or a salary sacrifice type thing through ‘Tusker’ - never heard of them or used them but it seems expensive. Still waiting for our first EV to arrive…it was due in May 
We have a registration for it so I assume it has been built and is waiting for some sort of part. Given up phoning/emailing the lease company as every time I do they just say they'll contact the dealer and then we get a generated email saying the car will be due next week. I guess it'll be here when it's here!

Suspect there will be some compromise (reviews suggest this probably comes with road noise) but the spec and apparent driving experience for the OTR pricing looks very appealing
Indeed. Couple of reviews criticising some scratchy plastics (cliche) but what do they expect at this price point? Interested to see what the performance model will cost once that's released
Likewise, though I can't help but feel they're pitching it at the wrong power point if specs are to be believed. A c300bhp model with a relatively modest price increment and minimal range sacrifice would be perfect. That sort of power to weight ratio would also hide any chassis limitations that huge power and torque will expose quickly... Though I'm assuming that would actually be cheaper to produce than using the same motor in the front.
